Myspace Apps: Are They Worth It?

Have you seen that MySpace has taken a page from Facebook and has added applications for everyone's fun and pleasure? I am sure you noticed all the wonderful "Apps" that MySpace offers, Mobsters, Friend Factory, and others etc. All great and dandy, huh? Yes, I do have to admit some are pretty cool, but today I am here to tell you somethings that you may not really know.

First thing that you don't know is that most the Apps you see on MySpace are made by spammers. That's right...the individuals who have been stealing your password and hacking your account to spam your friends are creating some of the Apps. What happens is they create the App, you install it, and they are able to steal your passwords because the App is a data tracker. Not all Apps are made to do this. We are not making sweeping, generalized statements here. Many Apps are made by benign people, but before you get App-happy, just be careful to which Apps you install.

Secondly, MySpace Apps can be considered spam utilities. You probably already know that the Apps you install will send emails and post comments on your friends' pages. Many think that's all great because you get points or move up in levels with most these Apps because your friends are installing it. Well, guess what? Many of your friends are also getting annoyed with it and when they get that comment or message they are hitting the spam button. Do you realize that it only takes 20 clicks of that spam button and your account is deleted and treated as a spammers account? That's right ...you're now considered a spammer by MySpace. This total doesn't reset after 24 hours, 1 week, and or even a month. The total slowly builds up and when you get that number 20 spam click you are deleted from MySpace with little or no warning. So please be careful who you spam with MySpace Apps because your friend really isn't such a loyal friend when the Apps are irritating them.

Now last of all, the final thing you should know about Myspace Apps. I know your probably saying, "Dang, there's more?" Yes, unfortunately, there's more. The last thing you should know about MySpace Apps is... (drum roll, please), Apps are not all they are cracked up to be. Yes, they give you the ability to play games, give you ability to add stuff to your profile that you haven't been able to add before, and last but not least, the Apps can offer a service. Just always remember Apps also open your profile up to third party individuals, they can track your cookies, possibly steal your passwords, and could get your profile deleted.

So in summary, when your sitting there at your desk, bored out of your mind and those MySpace Apps are looking quit interesting, do some research. Usually the Apps promoted by MySpace are the legitimate ones. The Apps that you know little about, or they have little or no info about them are the ones that you should be very wary about installing. Before you decide that you're bored with MySpace and your wanting to do something fun, just get off the computer for once and watch a movie with your family or friends, or read a book instead of installing any Apps. Having your profile deleted just isn't worth the fun of MySpace Apps. I hope this article sheds light on Apps for everyone.
