MySpace Your Business: Why Every Company Needs a MySpace Page

DannyNoSleeves
With MySpace being all over the news for almost the last year it is amazing to me that more business haven't jumped on the bandwagon that is MySpace. Perhaps it is because some people are just out of the loop. Who knows, but it seems that if companies like spend a huge chunk of change on advertising on MySpace, paying someone web designer hundreds to setup a basic html MySpace page, and then paying some teen to run it; then t seems like every business should look into it.

MySpace Business- Why Not?

So you don't have an unlimited MySpace budget to pay web designers and advertise. So what? It's not like you need any of those things. Millions of kids are signing up and customizing their page every day. Usually with little to no HTML knowledge.

A basic MySpace profile is free to open and with a plethora of free sites offering free MySpace templates or basic software to create your own MySpace profile I again ask you, why not sign up for a free MySpace profile?

MySpace Business- Why, you ask?

As tempted as I am to say "Why Not" again, perhaps I should explain the advantages of MySpace. I was listening to a podcast from Microsoft that was for small to mid sized business owners. The podcast was about creating marketing communities.

While I listened to the interview with the women in charge of running the KRAFT Foods community I couldn't help but think about what a great idea a web community was. A we community is really like a free market research tool, a free way to get in touch with consumers who are interested in your product, a direct way to talk to your customers, and many more advantages.

Sounds great I know, but you are probably asking yourself, how could I afford such a thing and what does this have to do with MySpace? Well as I listen too the women talk about their web community I couldn't help but notice how much it sounds like a very upscale and targeted version of a MySpace profile.

Think of it this way, if you create a MySpace profile for your company you can search out other MySpace users who might be interested in your product thus creating a database of customers who you know want what you have. You can send out targeted emails and bulletins via m MySpace for free. This beats having to sign up for a costly email newsletter manager. You can even create a forum for your business where you can hold your very own free market research with people you know are interested in your products.

MySpace Business- Conclusion

So now do you see what I am getting at? MySpace is a great place to create a free online web community for small businesses. Just remember that the MySpace community is a mostly a very savvy bunch so you have to operate your MySpace business profile with caution. If your MySpace profile page looks like you are just out for their money they will deny you. If you go overboard with the emails, they will report you. If your bulletin posts look like spam, they will get rid of you.

I have been running a MySpace page for my clothing company for a few months now and have been doing well. I attribute a good portion of my sales to all the free advertising I get with MySpace. Take a look at my business MySpace page to get a better idea of what a good MySpace profile can do for your business. If you have any questions for free to drop me a line via MySpace!
