On March 17, 2008, this service launched by MySpace. The application button appears on the left side of the screen when members log in. It's located just under the member's picture and with the graphic of a cellular phone it's easy to find. Users of MySpace can also visit MySpace's mobile profile by going to www.myspace.com/myspacemobile.
MySpace mobile does not cost members anything though they will be billed for data usage by their cellular carriers. When members receive a comment, message, or friend request they are notified via text message alerting them to the communication. Not all features are available so members can't watch videos or listen to music posted on the social networking site.
Currently MySpace mobile is available for those using services provided by At&t, Alltel, Helio, Sprint, Verizon, Cellular One, US Cellular, and Virgin Mobile. In the near future additional carriers including T-Mobile will be added to MySpace Mobile.
Users wanting to access MySpace mobile must have a phone with a working internet connection and access to a text plan to receive messages from MySpace. Messages from MySpace mobile will appear at the carrier's standard rate.
Social networking enthusiasts will be having fun learning about MySpace mobile and the many potentially great features offered by this service. Now those who are blocked from the site at school or work can keep up with what's going on 24/7.
As this is a new feature don't expect it to work perfectly during the initial stages of its offering. It may take MySpace some time to work out any kinks with the service. Now the only question I have is "where is my cell phone?"

Post a CommentI was a myspace addict for about a month and then it got old. I often forget to check my messages so the mobile device might come in handy but I am also with Sprint and not the ones listed above. They will probably change this to include more in the future.
I can see why a lot of people would enjoy myspace mobile. I, myself, am always behind on my own myspace messages.
