MySpace Layout Tutorials - Changing the Font Style

In this tutorial, I'll explain how you can change the font style of the text on your MySpace profile page.

First, you need to be logged in to MySpace. Next look in the first box on the left side, the one that greets you with "Hello, !". Just to the right of your picture, (or of the no-photo icon if you don't have a picture), is a menu list. The top item on that list is "Edit Profile". Left-click on "Edit Profile".

Now you should be on a page headed "Profile Edit - Interests & Personality". Look for the big text box labeled "About Me:", and put your cursor in it. Now you're going to type, or cut & paste, everything I have printed in the section between the stars. DON'T copy the stars, but copy everything BETWEEN the lines of stars into the "About Me:" box on your MySpace page.

Done? Good! That was the hard part.

Now you need to decide what font style you want the text on your MySpace page changed to. Open your favorite word processing program, or search Google, to find a font style that you like. There are two ways to re-assign the font style of the text on your MySpace page.

Option #1: Choose ONE font style
Use this option if you definitely know what you want, and you won't accept any substitutes. But realize that anyone who's viewing your page on a computer that hasn't been loaded with that particular font style, may not be able to see your MySpace page, or may see garbage instead of what you intended.

Option #2: Give the viewer's computer several options
Put your personal preference as a first choice, but also add some other options. You can list, in order of preference, several font styles, and the first one on the list to be available on the viewer's computer is the one that will be used on that computer. (Yes, that means it may look different on different computers.) Be sure that at least one of the choices you provide is something common and mainstream enough to be available on most computers. Arial, and sans-serif, are both good choices for that.

Okay, now you've got your font style choice (or choices) picked out, right? Look at the code you pasted into the "About Me:" box. Find the section near the end the looks like this:

{
font-family: Arial;
}

Arial is a nice common font style. Right now your MySpace text will be in Arial. If you like Arial, and you don't want to list any other choices, then you're finished. If you want a different font style than Arial, you're going to delete the "Arial" and replace it with the name of your new font style choice.

For example, if you want the text to be in the sans-serif font style, it would look like this:

{
font-family: sans-serif;
}

If you want the text to be in the sans-serif font style, but you're willing to consider Arial as a second choice, and Geneva as a third choice, and Verdana as a fourth choice, it would look like this:

{
font-family: sans-serif, Arial, Geneva, Verdana;
}

DON'T CHANGE ANYTHING OTHER THAN THE "Arial" !!

Finally, look about an inch above the "AboutMe:" box for a button labeled "Save All Changes". Left-click on that button. That's all there is to it!

Now when you go to your profile page, the text will be whatever font style(s) you've entered the name of.

    Actuaaaaaly, I must say these people below me, the majority of them, have an IQ of 5. I tried everything and so far this has been the only thing that worked. PEOPLE - replace the font "Arial" with what you want. I picked Tahoma. Also I only needed to copy & paste in the bold text inbetween the stars. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure that out. Thanksss for posting this!

    this is actually a helpful tutorial, it isn't just copy and paste what you see on the first page. That is why "it doesn't work". You have to put some effort into it. If you like copying and pasting html, rather than doing the work i'd suggest a different site.
