Myspace: Mobsters Vs. Mafia Wars

Has Mafia Wars Surpassed Mobsters?

Mutha
Mobsters and Mafia Wars are two game applications that can be downloaded and played on myspace. Each game has the same premise and is played in the same manner, yet each has its loyal users. In the past, the Mobsters site was quicker, cleaner, and didn't have as many bugs to be worked out. This made it a favorite among myspace pages. Recently features were added, the organizations was improved and the content was updated more frequentlly. Many users who have tried Mafia Wars in the past may be impressed by the new look and feel of the application.

According to the Myspace Apps page, Mobsters and Mafia Wars are the two most popular applications on the site. Mobsters coming in first with more than 12 million users and Mafia Wars following with almost 10 million users. In my own personal experience, it seems that Mafia Wars has more inactive users than Mobsters. A lot of the users seem to have tried out both apps and favored the Mobsters app. To me this is no surprise, I did the same thing. I would typically only visit the Mafia Wars app once in a while to bank my earnings, fight a bit, and buy a few properties. Typically this would only happen if Mobsters was down for maintenance. Recently, when visiting the site, my priorities have changed. I have found myself doing a complete turn around.

Why, you might ask? I have become a bit bored with Mobsters. I am now a level 64 mobster. I have much money in the bank. There are no new properties to buy. The only new job available is one I can not do until I build up 100 energy points, which will take many more levels to accomplish. So, when I do return to the application I have only one real job option because the others don't make enough money.

On the other hand, when visiting the Mafia Wars application, I have noticed a few new things that make the application more appealing:

Boss Battles - Boss battles can be completed at the lower levels and they are promising more Boss battles to come. Boss battles do not take much energy but offer big rewards. You can quickly gain experience points by completing Boss battles. You can also gain special items by defeating the boss.

Loot Items - By completing certain jobs (you will see it specified under the job description) you can earn loot items. Brass knuckles, protective gear, piano wire, and a gold 9mm are just a few of the loot items you can acquire to assist when battling other mobsters.

More Jobs - Mafia Wars has more jobs available to choose from than Mobsters. Each level of jobs has been separated, starting with the low level jobs and moving to the higher level jobs. You can find many jobs that do not require many energy points and offer special items for completion. You can move between levels to find jobs that you would like to do. If you already have a mobster on Mafia Wars but have not visited the application in a while, you may want to go back through the lower levels and see what new jobs have been added, to include Boss Battles for the lower levels.

Top Family - You can designate the your favorite Top 8 Mafia members. Each of the Top 8 members you designate will earn you an additional 1% of your income. So, you can earn up to 8% more by designating 8 members to be your Top 8. You can also heal your Top 8 members every 4 hours. Typically they would have to pay the hospital to heal them. You can do it for free and they can do the same for you.

Mobsters vs. Mafia Wars? At this time I would have to say that Mafia Wars offers much more to its users. Of course this could all change. Mobsters could throw a few things in the mix to spice it up. I will keep checking back but for now, Mafia Wars has my vote.

The other totally awesome thing that has converted me from Mobsters to Mafia Wars is that on Mafia Wars, once you hit a certain Level, there is no longer a requirement for number of members in your mafia for jobs, whereas I could not do much in Mobsters even though my level was higher.
