MySpace: The Next Best Thing for Communication

RONYAE
I don't care what society says, Myspace is a possitive tool for communication. Okay, it may have its bad points such as child pornographers stalking our innocent ones, but on the positive note; Myspace may have helped our family find out that one of our members was gravely ill.

On Saturday, March 15th, my mother and two of my uncles were returning home to Detroit after a trip to Alabama for my book tour, and of course to help celebrate my granny's birthday among many other reasons we usually visit Alabama around this time of the year. When I returned home and started checking my emails, websites and of course the main website-Myspace, I was flabbergasted when I had received a personal message on Myspace from my extended cousin Andre. The message sent me into a nervous attack as I continued to read it.

My cousin Dre had plainly stated in the message that my uncle had been admitted to a local hospital in Waukegan, IL; and that my uncle may have suffered a stroke! I was totally thrown back, nervous and scared for my uncle. Now, that's what I call a blessing! Not only had Myspace given our family the opportunity to communicate, it had given us the chance to get the word out...and Fast!

I've witnessed this blessing in other forms as well. I remember a time when I hadn't heard from my god-brothers in a while, and one day I noticed that he had been online on his Myspace page; I instantly sent him a comment to not only show love, but to also check on his wheareabouts and to see how my other god-brothers had been doing. He informed me that the other two brothers had been jailed, and that he was now living in Ohio with his aunt. I tell you, myspace offers a great line of communication if used properly.

I would like to send out an extended gratefulness to Tom and the Myspace crew for giving those who wish to use the website for positive lines of communication and networking; if it wasn't for Myspace, I'd have a hard time keeping up with family and friends! And for that, I say "Thank-You, Myspace!"

Lately, Myspace has added even more creative ways to stay in touch with your Myspace friends; we now have an update box where you can change your status and edit your page, and it will be seen by all of your subscribed friends. Again, I say: Way to Go! Myspace. J

well put...I got involved on myspace after I relocated from Cali to the midwest...the young people from my youth ministry suggested that I do so to keep in touch. I am now able to stay in touch with them, offer counsel and advice...it's the next best thing to being there.
