So how do you tell if you are about to be attacked by a MySpace Spambot ?
What can you do to resolve the problem or stop the attack altogether?
I'm going to give you a few tips on how you can rid yourself of these pests once and for all.
So you log into MySpace and you see you have several friend requests, first off this is where the attack will begin and this is where you will need to have your sleuth head on your shoulders.
1. Check the date of this friend request signing up to MySpace. You can do this by simply checking the status of the requesting friend. If they have just joined within the last few days, move onto number 2 below. If they have not then check to see if the friend request has had conversations with others in their comments.
2. Check the friends list, if this list has hundred or even thousands of friends made within days then something is not quite right. Move onto 3 below.
3. Check the photos, if you find just one picture of a person, the chances are if all the other 2 parts above in the criteria have been fulfilled then you have a Spambot or Malicious account ready to pounce on your MySpace account.
What do you do now?
You may now block, report and deny the offending friend request. Of course there will be genuine friend requests on MySpace, but these are quite easily recognisable when you look deeper into an account.
Other tell-tale signs are US accounts with a UK Home Town, or UK Home Town and US Income details.
Be aware of the above information if you don't wish to have your account hacked or your mailbox filled full of junk spam.
I hope I helped.
