Mystery Shopper Needed for Mystery Shopper's

The Angry Need Only Apply

Erinn Soule
I think the headline for this job post should sound something like this, "Your Dream Job is here! Mystery Shopper needed to spy on Mystery Shopping Companies...Only the angry need apply!" Doesn't that sound about right folks? Please take notice of all the words that I put in parenthesis ( ), they actually mean scam, trick, lie or any other (catch).

I have been job hunting for the past few months, something to do from home, and nothing! A friend told me about "mystery shopping" and it sounded perfect...Almost too perfect. I decided to do a bit of research first, check out a couple locations on the net and apply to the one that offered the best options, like new fees!

My first test was a place called (The Secret Client.Com), they promised no fees to join, full list of stores for (free) and pretty nice (compensation). Not only did you get to keep the products you (buy)but you also make a small profit as well (paid through paypal). I signed up, waited to be accepted and got started with my first (list).

After about 30 minutes of trying to (purchase) items on my (list) also known as a (data sheet), I realized something...I needed a (credit card). Now wait a minute, I specifically asked my (Rep) if I needed to (pay to work), she informed that I did not have to pay anything. She also said that the (Company funds) my Paypal account for the amount needed to purchase these items. This sounded perfect!

Okay one question (Mrs. Rep), these stores do not accept paypal? They are asking for a credit card? So how do I (pay) for them using my paypal? I stated that I did not have a (credit card) and even if i did, I was not about to (pay to work)! She said, No-No, you don't pay to work, you will be (reimbursed).

Well it finally dawned on me, I was a fool! Now, yes they did fund my paypal for $82.56 (the amount of the total purchases) but that amount would need to be (charged) on my (credit card first). Am I the only one confused here? How the heck to I get that amount (reimbursed on my credit card) from paypal? You don't! And the fine print? You only (really earn) about $1-2 per survey/item and I had 27 of them! Can you say...SCAM?

Now that my account closed with them, on to the next one...(Shadow Shopper.Com), ah the beauty of being a FOOL! I signed up, took their "test" and I was on my way...Oh that is, after I (paid $49.99) to see the list of stores!

Well I searched and searched on their website, finally found the free version of their service and was so surprised to see so many stores in San Pedro needing....what? What did they need? I don't know, because being that I used their free service, they would not let me see them or have access to those (stores)! Gosh! I am a total dweeb! I am a dweeb, because i did it once again!

This time was a place called (ACE Mystery Shopper). Now they do seem a bit more legit because there are really and truly (NO FEES), but they have nothing available at all for me, I keep checking and checking and NOTHING! I even put 50 miles request, from my area, just to see...still nothing! It does show 12 jobs available but you guessed it, I need to be a Gold Member...Don't even know how much that will cost and I don't care!

I am sure this article could reach over a 1,000 words (making it worth $6) but I am just too frustrated in all these scams out there! I think what we really need, is to find shoppers to mystery shop these companies! The report cards should be placed on them, not the retail stores!
