Mystery Shopping at Walgreen's

Diana Eid
From time to time I will do some mystery shopping. There are many mystery shopping companies out there to choose from, but I've only used a few of them. There are also many scammers out there so be careful when you choose a company to work for. i have worked with a certain mystery shopping company and have been pleased with them.

I have done various Walgreen's shops with this company. The shop involves going in to a specified Walgreen's during certain hours. Sometimes the shop varies, but both times I have gone to the pharmacy counter and asked the pharmacist a pre-arranged question. I had to note how many people were in line and whether or not the pharmacist answered my question thoroughly and if they showed me where the item I asked for was. I also had to keep note of their name and job title.

I then needed to head to the photo counter and pretend like I didn't know how to use the photo machine. I was told I had to wait for someone to offer help and if no one did, then I had to ask someone. From there I had to note how long it took to receive help and what the person's name was.

The last big information I needed was from the checkout counter. I needed to note the name of the cashier and whether or not a greeting was issued to me. I then had to obtain a receipt and the three major parts of the shop were done. While I was completing the shop I had to notice certain factors like how many employees walked past me and whether or not they acknowledged me. I also had to notice if there was a manager present in the store. Compared to other mystery shops I've done, there weren't that many things to remember. I walk into the store and record my time, and when I leave the receipt lets me know what the time was. Other than that, I just have to memorize the names of the employees. The other tasks I have to complete aren't that difficult. Once I leave the store I get in my car and quickly write down the times and names of everyone. Then once I get home I log on to the Internet and submit my report. The questions are fairly simple and most are yes/no questions.

As for payment, it's not that much. I get paid $8.00 for doing the shop and $2.00 reimbursement for anything I want to buy. This shop is easy for me because I shop at Walgreen's all the time and with a total of $10 I can get something for free. The checks from the mystery shopping company also arrive fairly quickly, usually within a few weeks.

While you may not get rich from mystery shopping, it is great for someone that has some spare time and would like to make extra money during it.
