Mystifying Monday

It's Monday and that means it's time for Mystifying Monday! Mystifying Monday means that it's time for me to present some of the oddest news stories or happenings that just may mystify you! I know they can mystify me!

Yes, Mystifying Monday is early. I have jury duty on Monday, so I have to get a good night's sleep!

Shh . . don't tell people what's obvious!

Researchers have found that the warnings on cigarette packages that warn of death may lead people to smoke more to cope with the idea of death. Isn't it obvious that everybody dies, even though it's a morbid thought and don't people know by now, that cigarette smoking leads to an early death and worse health even before they start? Yet, for some reason researchers don't want to tell this to smokers. It's too late now, isn't it?

School is ha-ard!

A lot of students seem to say this. Some students get upset that their parents want them to do well and feel pressured. How about children of parents that actually enroll them in a prep course when they are three so they can get into a prestigious kindergarten? It's really happening in New York! These parents must also be rich since the cost is over $1,000!

Merry-Go-House?

A family in Australia owns an octagonal house that rotates by using a small electric motor and a computer. The concept is quite interesting, though sometimes they are not quite sure in which direction they will face in the morning. Don't expect too many people to have houses like this as it cost over $600,000!

Don't drink and . . . ride?

A woman that was riding a horse in the Shelbyville, Tn, Christmas parade paid a $500 fine for public intoxication. However, the interesting part is not that she got a fine for public intoxication. The interesting part is that she was actually passed out on her horse outside of a motel.

And you thought you were cramped in YOUR car!

In Tualatin, OR, a three month old kitten was found inside the wheel well of a car. That's probably not a strange place to find a kitten, however it is strange to find a kitten there as it stayed while the car traveled 120 miles in below freezing temperatures at speeds of over 70 mph! If you want to complain about being cramped in your car, don't complain to this kitten!
