Mythbusters: No Myth is Safe from These Guys

Chris Tidwell
Urban legends and other myths be ware, Discovery Channel has a team to crack every last question these myths and legends have ever posed to us, and with a little comedy in-between. Mythbusters is a funny, yet educational show produced by the Discovery Channel that puts any myth, legend or mystery involving the laws of science and physics to the ultimate test. Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman host the show and together make a great Mythbusting team.

Adam and Jamie have put all kinds of myths and legends to the test over the years using science and technology as their tools and guides. Both assess the forces at work in a particular myth and sometimes even get involved more then they probably should, putting themselves in harms way to show the credibility or lack there of with any myth.

The show normally starts out by proposing a certain group of myths, for instance myths about soda. Then they al get to work analyzing and assessing the myth or myths in question and come up with ways to test each. Then the contraptions are built or plans put into action to test the said myths. Finally the tests take place and results are recorded.

Though the show may seem pretty flat to many if you actually sit down and watch an entire episode you'll be surprised at how interesting, informative and funny each episode can be. What makes the show great is not only the in depth research the team does to prove or disprove myths, but also the simplistic presentation of everything as well as the common and interesting myths involved that we have heard about all our lives.

Mythbusters can take the most complex science and physics problem and turns it into something a child could easily understand. The myths the team puts on trial are some that you will defiantly recognize from growing up. Does a penny dropped from a skyscraper really have deadly potential? Can a person's voice actually reach such a pitch that it can shatter glass? Can a bullet made of ice actually kill a person and be undetectable? All these and many more questions will be answered on the show, and of course Adam getting himself hurt always adds a bit of humor we all love.

Overall Mythbusters is a great show that anyone will enjoy. You'll laugh at some of the myths being put to the test, yet may be surprised at the results. Check your local listings on the Discovery channel for show times, and check for repeats. Many times Discovery will replay older episodes throughout the day, so if you have missed any of the myth busting action over the years be sure to catch up.
