Let's begin with the Loch Ness Monster, or "Nessie" as they call it. The Loch Ness Monster saga began back in 1933 when a man from London, named George Spicer, said he and his wife had seen something that resembled a dragon or a prehistoric animal headed toward Loch Ness. After that similar sightings began to surface. Alex Campbell, the water bailiff for Loch Ness, first named the "creature" monster. The earliest mention of a monster like creature near Loch Ness was recorded in the 7th century by Adomnan. Still today pictures and videos pour in of the so called Loch Ness Monster.
Another famous legend is that of Bigfoot, also known as Sasquatch. Bigfoot is told to be a big ape like creature in North America with footprints as big as 24 inches. There has actually been no proof discovered that Bigfoot really exists. Even so it is still widely believed to be true. Most of the sightings of Bigfoot have been in the Pacific Northwest. Exactly when the Bigfoot legend began is in question. For the most part Bigfoot has been dismissed as a hoax but you will still find a few believers out there.
The Legend of The Bermuda Triangle is an interesting legend. The Bermuda Triangle can be found in a region of the northwestern Atlantic Ocean. It's main allegations has been that of airplanes and boats disappearing within it's premises. Most documentation of the missing aircraft and boats have been widely determined to have been reported inaccurately. The first known mention of the Bermuda Triangle was in 1950. Vincent Gaddis tagged the name "Bermuda Triangle". Some have explained the phenomenon as supernatural, paranormal or even activity by extraterrestrial beings.
We have all heard of what supposedly happened in Roswell, New Mexico back in 1947. A discovery was made of materials believed to be that of a UFO, or Unidentified Flying Object. The story goes that the military stated that the findings were that of a surveillance balloon and not that of a UFO. Many UFO believers maintain that an alien aircraft crashed and that alien bodies were actually recovered and that the military is covering it up. This occurred 30 years after the initial findings when a man by the name of Jesse Marcel was interviewed. Marcel told how he believed the military had covered up the findings of the alien aircraft. This seemed to rekindle the fire and even today Roswell is synonymous with UFO's.
Hope you found this article educational and interesting. Perhaps even a little humorous.
