Mywonderfulworld.org - National Geographic Website for All Ages

The eye alights upon the phrase "Give our kids the power of global knowledge" when first viewing this website. And from that moment on it is apparent that National Geographic fully intends to extend the global knowledge of our children far beyond our wildest imaginations! With sections clearly delineated for Parents, educators and kids & teens, it is easy to navigate through this site for even the first time visitor.

One section that impressed me both as a parent and as an educator, was "test your global IQ" http://www.mywonderfulworld.org/global_iq.html
where the reader encounters sections such as National Geographic-Roper Survey of Geographic Literacy, http://www.nationalgeographic.com/roper2006/, an area where visitors can see first hand, how he or she measures up to others who have taken a poll based on general geographical knowledge. Do you dare to see how much you really know? Let me warn you, it's an eye opening experience to find out how much you really do know! Luckily for those of us who are a bit rusty in geography, there are plenty of ways we can brush up on our knowledge on this website!

Other areas such as GeoBee Challenge are fantastic brain exercisers as well! GeoBee Challenge is an onsite area where those who believe they could hold their own against others in a national Geographic Bee, get to "strut their stuff" and check their actual knowledge. One great part about this area is the questions change every 5 days, so the knowledge is ever changing for those who truly like a challenge!

Onsite, there is also a "Geo Brain Game" where players can test their geographical knowledge and try to win a $1000 savings bond at the same time! Plus, everyone who enters the challenge will win an " Upgrade coupon good for a future Budget car rental! " A win win situation for anyone who realizes a bargain when they see one!

As an educator and a parent, I highly recommend this site to all parents and children who wish to learn more about geography. Sadly enough, the geography knowledge in this world is lacking but it is sites such as this one that intend to improve that geographical knowledge through information, instruction and even games onsite such as "GeoSpy", where as an international spy you are invited to " identify continents, countries, states and provinces" and much more! It is a site that can only benefit the visitor with the knowledge within.

And this site is not just about games, you can also sign up for an AP Human Geography class within this site
and further your knowledge in the area of human geography as well. But I warn you, it's a tough class so come prepared to beat the books and expect to leave learning a lot about the subject!

Trust me when I say this is a wonderful opportunity for any child seeking an interesting online AP course. It is definitely worth a look to see if it fits your child's academic needs. I would hazard a guess here though when I say, there are few students who would not benefit from the use of this site as it is ever changing and offers many challenges for all levels of learning.

In short, this is a wonderful website and one that I have used time and again and one which I have suggested to many parents of all ages of students. There is much to be found on this site and it is a great academic asset for all ages. Check it out and see if you don't agree when I say this is by far one of the best geographic learning sites available today.
