Nabisco Triscuits are baked whole grain wheat crackers which have been around for more than 100 years. They come in several flavors including Cracked Pepper & Olive Oil, Rosemary & Olive Oil, Fire Roasted Tomato & Olive Oil, Garden Herb, Roasted Garlic, Deli-Style Rye and Cheddar.
This review is for the Rosemary & Olive Oil Flavor of Triscuits. There are two sizes available, a 9.5-oz box and a 13-oz family-size box. Surprisingly it was more cost effective for me to buy the smaller 9.5-oz box for $2.50.
Nutrition Information
The crackers are made with whole wheat and are naturally flavored. The box states that they are a good source of dietary fiber, they are baked with 100% whole grain and there are 0 grams of trans fats per serving. I've found that products which include the statement, "0 grams of trans fats per serving" sometimes contain hydrogenated oils. I checked the ingredients and there are no hydrogenated oils listed in these Triscuits. One thing that I did find interesting, is that although they are called Rosemary & Olive Oil flavor Triscuits, the 2nd ingredient listed is soybean and/or palm oil with olive oil being the last ingredient listed.
The box also states that these crackers may help reduce the risk of heart disease because "diets rich in whole grain foods, and low in saturated fat & cholesterol, may help reduce the risk of heart disease."
A serving size is 6 crackers and provides 120 calories, 35 of which come from fat. A serving also contains 4 grams of fat, 3 grams of protein, 3 grams of fiber and 0 grams of sugar and cholesterol. One serving provides a daily value of 10% of Phosphorous and 8% of Iron.
Taste
I think these Triscuits are very flavorful and delicious. They have a strong herb flavor that is very enjoyable. I like to eat them straight out of the box but I find that they are especially good with small slices of cheese, particularly Cheddar or Monterey Jack.
Final Analysis
I would definitely buy these Triscuits again because they taste so good. I also like the fact that they are made with whole grains and that they are baked. They make a wholesome snack and can even be a mini meal when I eat them with cheese. I especially like the fact that they have no hydrogenated oils in them. I try to avoid hydrogenated oils as much as possible and have found that it can be quite difficult to find prepared foods without them. So it is especially nice to find these tasty crackers which have none of these oils.
