Nabisco's New Peanut Butter Creme Cakesters Snack Cakes - Product Review

JRS
Okay, my experience with Nabisco Double Stuff Peanut Butter Crème Oreos turned out to be pretty good, but that didn't mean I'd be easily one over by Nabisco's New Peanut Butter Crème Oreo Cakesters Soft Snack Cakes!

Despite the taunting chocolate snack cake image on the packaging, I had no pressing need to spend money on this new Oreo snack product. I simply don't often desire my chocolate and peanut butter combined in the same product if it's not of a certain texture. I love Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. I love chocolate covered peanuts. I even eat chocolate and peanut butter ice cream once in a blue moon, but these foods all have smooth textured chocolate, not a dry or bead-like cakey texture mixed with a smooth creamy peanut butter filling. I would eat, and enjoy an open-faced peanut butter sandwich sans the chocolate if I wanted that! Thus I bought the box of 6 - 1.76oz snack packs just to sample them and see if I'd like them despite my misgivings.

As I've come to know, and expect, Nabisco's Oreo Cakesters combine soft chocolaty cake cookies on the outside with one of several flavors of smooth crème filling sandwiched between them.
When I discovered the Chocolate Crème Oreo Cakesters I liked them so much I would have believed them to be heaven-sent, while the regular vanilla crème filled variety were just substantial. For my tastes, I'll have to put these New Peanut Butter Crème Oreo Cakesters in class with the regular 'vanilla' filled Oreo Cakesters. The peanut butter crème filling was rather dull in taste, but this did nothing to enhance the chocolate flavor in the outer cake-like cookie parts that were soft, but somewhat dry. Even so, these dry cake cookies left my fingers slightly greasy!

Most likely I will not be purchasing more of these New Nabisco's Peanut Butter Crème Oreo Cakesters Soft Snack Cakes; which, by the way, do contain the dreaded High Fructose Corn Syrup!

I really don't know why Nabisco keeps messing with the original Oreo chocolate sandwich cookie! You just can't improve on perfection!

I haven't seen these, and based on your review, I think I'll stick with the tried and true Reese's and Nutter Butters (and if you haven't tried them yet, the dark chocolate Reese's are heavenly!)

That is good to know! I agree that they should quit trying to mess with the original which is perfectly delightful just the way it is!

Good review - Haven't tried them (because I'm perfectly happy with "just" Oreos and Nutter Butters if/when I do decide to splurge)

Great review! Your line "I really don't know why Nabisco keeps messing with the original Oreo chocolate sandwich cookie! You just can't improve on perfection!" says it all! :-)
