Nadishodhan Pranayama can Cure Cold and Cough Related Problems

Taru Mehta
The human body consists of countless nadis that carry the energy from one point of the body to another. If these nadis are not pure, the human body starts misbehaving and the diseases enter in the human body. If we want to remain free of all the diseases, we have to take special steps to purify all our nadis. This purification can be achieved easily by performing nadishodhan pranayama regularly on daily basis. This nadishodhan pranayama creates comparatively less stress. However, it is very effective and cleans all the nadis of our body within a period of around 3 to 4 months. This pranayama is to be performed for about 3 to 4 minutes daily initially and then, can be increased to about 6 minutes maximum.

After sitting in a yogic posture with your eyes closed, and hands resting on your knees with both the thumbs touching the first fingers, concentrate inside your mind by taking slow and deep breaths. Close right nostril using right hand thumb and inhale fully with the left nostril to the maximum extent possible. Hold your breath in this position for as long as you can. Perform Moola bandh and the Jalandhar bandh simultaneously. When you feel tired, unlock both the bandhs and exhale completely but very slowly through the right nostril. Keep your breath out for around 4 seconds and start inhaling from right nostril. Again do both Moola bandh and the Jalandhar bandh holding your breath for as long as you can and then, again exhale after unlocking both the bandhs through the left nostril. Go on repeating this exercise for around 6 to 8 times. Initially, you may be able to perform this exercise for around 2 to 3 times only. However, you go on increasing this gradually. The key factor in this pranayama is to inhale and exhale very slowly and deeply so as to feel reaching of fresh air in to all the remote and the farthest corners of your lungs and brain. The time of each inhaling and exhaling may also be slowly increased to around 10 to 12 seconds each. There is no hard and fast higher limit for doing this pranayama as it is a very relaxing type of pranayama and do not generate much stress on your system. You may perform this exercise for around 6 to 8 times in each sitting to get the maximum benefits. The key factor is again to complete all types of pranayama in one sitting, allotting sufficient time for each exercise so that some exercise do not get left out completely due to the shortage of time.

The entire respiratory system organs get purified by doing this pranayama. The blockages in the nostrils, wind pipe, and the lungs get removed effectively through this pranayama. The sinus, head aches, migraine, cold cough, pneumonia, and the chest filled with cough are cured completely by doing this pranayama. However, please avoid doing this pranayama for a very long time during the peak summer. The early morning hours are the best time for doing pranayama exercises after all the morning rituals are over and your stomach is empty. It would be better if this pranayama exercise is done after drinking warm water in the early morning hours after getting up. This pranayama is really effective for the persons suffering from repetitive attacks of cold, cough, migraine, sinus, and pneumonia. Investment of only around 5 minutes per day in doing this pranayama can immensely benefit to cure all such cold and cough related diseases.

The pranayama exercises are proven scientific techniques to cure almost all the diseases without taking any allopathic medicines that have many bad side effects. I have seen many of my friends getting cured completely from all such diseases by regular practice of this pranayama. I would strongly recommend all my AC friends to please start doing this pranayama and get the big harvest of all the benefits listed herein. However, if any of my AC friends have any doubts on this, they are free to contact me.
