Nadya Suleman, Octuplets, and Angelina Jolie

On January 26, 2009, Nadya Suleman gave birth to eight babies, one more than expected. For a brief period she was flashed all over the news as the octuplet producing mother. It took only hours for more of the story to come out.

The birth of the octuplets was only the second time that all eight babies were born alive in the United States. Claims have already made that the babies are the world's longest living octuplets already, however, that is not easily verifiable.

The babies consisted of six boys and two girls, and join an already large family. Nadya has six other children, now making her a mother of fourteen. The octuplets all took the name Angel as their middle name, and Solomon as their last name. The six other children, ranging from age 2 through age 7 include a set of twins, four boys and two girls, all also carrying Solomon as the last name.

Just a few weeks after the giving birth, Nadya Suleman has her own entry in Wikipedia. Wikipedia is citing 80 different references to the entry and notes that the entry is listed as a current event and the information may change rapidly. There is no doubt that Nadya Suleman and her 14 children have marked their place in history.

Mamamia has posted a picture of the octuplet mom. The picture is rather disgusting, and claims to be taken just eight days before Nadya gave birth to the octuplets.

As California dwindles into a massive deficit, who pays for the birth of the octuplets, and their care? Apparently, the family is on Medi-Cal, California's version of Medicaid. The births are estimated at a cost exceeding $1 million.

With six children already why would the mother bother being implanted with six embryos? Worse yet, what doctor, in his right mind, would implant so many embryos into a mother of six, who is jobless, on welfare (or aid for those critics out there), and has been receiving disability payments?

Nadya's mother Angela claims that her and her husband Ed battled to pay Nadya's bills, as she has not worked since becoming a mother. In 2008, the parents of the octo-mom filed bankruptcy. Angela has reportedly stated that she is tired of taking care of Nadya's children and she had better start finding a way for her to support herself and the kids. Nadya lives with her parents.

Pictures of the home have been released, or perhaps leaked, as well. There are children everywhere, and too many beds to a room. Take this mess and factor in eight more newborns, and you have a children and youth extraction waiting to happen.

Later came the question about Nadya trying to be like Angelina Jolie. Could it be true? Earlier photos of Nadya have surfaced across the Internet, and they are quite different from her looks of late.

It has been rumored that the octo-mom had surgery to try and look like Jolie, and that her battle to have more children than she could afford was one in an effort to beat the number of children that Jolie has.

Nadya Suleman has denied having surgery, and having an Angelina Jolie obsession. She said she has not even thought of Jolie since she last saw her in a movie a couple years ago.

So, what does Angelina have to say? According to this website, Jolie is creeped out. Who can blame her? Nadya denies anything having to do with Jolie, but it is rumored that she frequently harasses Angelina by mail. Considering older photos, Nadya's friends claims, harassment, and the fact that her octuplets all have the middle name Angel, I think she is lying.

Nadya thinks that the assistance she receives is not welfare. Unfortunately for her messed up mental state, it is. Not only will the state be picking up the bill for the births and care of the babies, Suleman also receives food stamps.

Suleman herself has received over $160,000 in disability payments and three of the first six children are disabled and also receive federal assistance. While this may not be welfare, Supplemental Security Income, or SSI, is assistance.

Where is the father? Probably wondering when he gets to see his children. The father of all 14 of Nadya's children donated the sperm and still has not met any of the kids. He reportedly has said he wants to get to know the children, but it still under complete shock that she has had so many. His desires currently lie with the first six children.

A state medical board investigation is going to take place in California. The doctor responsible for implanting Nadya is also under investigation. It has been rumored that he has also implanted multiple embryos into other woman.

The Nadya Suleman Family website has pictures of all eight babies and of Nadya. It also has the address and phone number of the agent in charge of donations. You can leave a comment for Nadya and her family on the website as well.

Nadya told Ann Curry that she has survived on disability and student loans. The octo-mom says she is in college, and now plans to return for her Master's Degree.

The problems with this story are many, too many. Surviving on disability while attending college is pretty much a lie. College is work, in every sense that matters. It takes discipline, and strength. If the 33 year old could get up and go to class, carry books, she could hold a job.

Next, there is the reason why the doctor would implant so many embryos. The answer, who knows? It is quite odd to begin with, but it was the same doctor that implanted Nadya with embryos for her prior children. Therefore, he knew that she had six other children, no job, was on disability, and anything else that matters.

Student loans are meant for college, for books and tuition. Some student loans do accept applications to help meet the needs of life while attending college, but student loans to cover the lives of six children, and now 14 children is absurd.

I cannot speak of the fact that Nadya is unmarried. I do not think that any unmarried woman should be deprived of motherhood. However, being a single mother 14 times over is a bit outrageous.

Nadya claims that she wanted a large family her entire life. While that may be true, I think she had ulterior motives. I personally believe that she has a sick obsession with Angelina Jolie. I also personally believe that she is just finding ways to tweak the system to her benefit.

The more children you have the more you can make and still receive welfare and other state or federal benefits. The longer you are in college the longer the student loans are deferred, and again, the longer you are a student, the more aid there is available to you.

I personally believe it is disgusting from all angles that this woman has 14 children. I feel for the children's future, but I do believe they will be loved.

My final thought on her motives is her 15 minutes of fame. There are rumors that she has already signed a television deal, and possibly a book deal. If these rumors are untrue, I am sure they are going to come true very soon.

Nadya became famous when she became the mother of octuplets, perhaps infamous. She is dubbed the most hated mother in the country right now.

Unfortunately, we will never hear the end of her. In the future there will be news stories on 'The Octuplets: How are They Doing X Years Later'. I have no doubt that we will see news broadcast of children and youth services knocking down her door. She will be publicized when she files bankruptcy in a few years and defaults on her student loans.

With the state of the economy, I wonder what other statistics she is going to enter. There have been headlines of what experts are calling 'familicide' all across the country. Adults are committed murder-suicides, slaying their entire families. Some of the familicides are speculated while others leave notes, but both conclude the same thing, financial crisis.

I hope Nadya Suleman is done having children as she claims. I do not wish anyone to take her children away because this is just punishing the child.

I hope Nadya never becomes a familicide statistic. I hope she finds her way out of a financial crisis that is only expected to worsen over the next year.

Nadya Suleman is not a hero. She is not a saint. She is a sick person to have so many children while unemployed and 'disabled'. She has a sick obsession with Angelina Jolie and I believe she needs some professional help. Although the octo-mom is now famous, or infamous, I believe she has succeeded in the things she wanted.

She has her large family, Angelina Jolie has recognized her, and almost everyone in the country knows her name. I encourage her to leave a comment here and tell the world her secret to not starving to death. I do not want to hear about help from family because the struggling-to-get-by individuals in this country do not all have family.

If you have secrets of being frugal, Nadya, I think you should share them with the world. You are already infamous, so why not tick off the rest of the country and heighten your status?
