Here's ten more nail secrets to take your weak, thin, fragile nails to stronger, longer, healthier nails. Why more tips? Because with a multi-faceted approach you'll win the war against tattered, ugly nails. By-pass the artificial nails and shoot for best nails you can have naturally.
1. Do remove polish with an enriched formula nail polish remover. Vitamin E, wheat protein and chamomile work best.
2. Buy a nail polish with silk, nylon and protein hardeners. Ruby Kisses (really inexpensive from .99-$1.99) makes a formula with all three ingredients that yields improvement in a week or two.
3. Buy a chamois nail buffer and nail buffer cream. Massage and buff cream into the nail as directed on package. Watch the healthy glow! An added plus is no polish is needed. Nails can use a break from chemicals too.
4. Shape nails into a mildly pointed tip. This "arch" shape is strongest.
5. Do not use your nails as a tool to pull up, pry out or scrape off objects.

Remember, it can take up to 6 months or more for a fingernail to grow out. Most changes you adopt in your nail care regimen are more immediate. You'll see a difference within a week or two or three. Watch your nails as you try something new. If you like the progress, then continue. If not, maybe you can add another nail care tip to that to help push progress along. Or, just abandon it and try something new.

6. Critical nail care: slather a combination of moisturizer and petroleum jelly on your hands and wear cotton gloves, preferably overnight.
7. Take biotin supplements. Biotin is the principal vitamin responsible for hair and nail growth. See tutorial by yumcheesy5 on Youtube.
8. Include heavy pigment nail polishes, these are typically called cremes. They are weigh-"tier" than the sheer nail polishes and give a little more protection. And, until your nails grow out...they camouflage breakage when it occurs over the nail bed.
9. When buying nail care products, look for those fortified with vitamins to keep the charge forward on your nail care regimen.
10. Buy a good nail strengthener. Naillure by Claire Topper is an excellent strengthener (your nails will be like steel). Nail Envy has good reviews as well.
11. For the die hards that need real barrier protection, try a glitter nail coat. The pieces of glitter (metallic paper) give real substance to the nail for breakage protection. Those who include glitter polishes in their arsenal tend to have the strongest nails. See tutorial by 9TwelveMUAstudios on youtube, for LA Splash Nail Art Glitter.
