There are a number of nail salons in and around Fayetteville, Georgia and I have tried a few. Some I have stepped into and then quickly stepped right back out because they didn't look clean or the greeting I received was more "financial" than "friendly"--they were immediately trying to sell me. I have had good experiences and bad ones, but my most recent one was surprising.
On a drive down 54 West toward Peachtree City, I saw a sign for acrylic, gel and solar nails with some decent prices and decided to stop in to the Nail Spa. I was greeted promptly and warmly, the area was clean, and the decor was quiet and thoughtful (no peach color--I hate peach.) As walk-ins are welcome, they were ready to spiff up my nails on the spot, but I had another appointment. I requested a card and said I would be back. I was given a card with a hopeful expression not a disappointed one, which told me they knew something about customer service. I did go back that same day and opted for a set of solar nails, a nail product from the Creative Nail Design family of products. (I believe it is one of the original acrylic nail companies.)
During my visit, I was treated respectfully and with care. At one point I coughed, likely due to the dust from grinding. My nail tech immediately offered me water. I accepted and he dashed away to get it, offering to open it for me on his return. The application process is time consuming and if done correctly requires a great deal of attention to detail. As I watched him work, I was reminded that this was an art form and he seemed to have a knack for it. I left with a very natural looking set of nails.
The nails held up for almost three weeks before I had a break, which was likely my fault because I forgot nails are "jewels" not "tools" and should be treated with respect. I needed a fill anyway, so I made an appointment. I was interested in finding if my first visit was good simply because I was a new customer or if their customer service was consistent. When I arrived I was greeted promptly and pleasantly. I opted for a spa pedicure in addition to my fill and repair to further test out the services. I was not disappointed in my $27.00 spa pedicure investment. My legs and feet felt great and my toes looked awesome when they were finished polishing them a deep ruby red--silent rebellion on my part, people rarely see my toes. I was also satisfied with my fingernail repair and fill.
As I stood at the counter waiting for my total, I was anxious to see if they would try to inflate my bill. This has happened to me elsewhere,"we had to do this or that and it costs extra." These 'surprises' have made me cautious. I was happy to find that they stuck with the prices on their price card. I was charged $28 for the full solar set fill (white and pink), $3.00 for the broken nail, $27.00 for the spa pedicure, and $5.00 for the gel coat on the fingernails, which is worth every penny as it keeps the nails looking fresh.
As a little further research, I sent someone else in to see a different nail tech. She had been complaining about the inconsistency of work from her current nail salon and was someone I knew as a long time acrylic nail warrior. I knew if there was a problem, she would be quick to report it to me as she rarely holds anything back. She was satisfied and has changed salons.

Personal Note: While I really like the look and convenience of Solar Nails with the two part color, they have a higher maintenance cost than just acrylics or gels. If your nails grow quickly, the white part will show a gap within a few days, so ask that the white be extended back a bit during the application. Or, you can French tip them yourself between fills to mask the gap. Sally Hansen sells an inexpensive French manicure kit with adhesive strips that are easy to use and give you a nice edge.
