ROCK FALLS, IL. - Because some students saw Friday morning's (May 20) shooting of a woman near their school in Rock Falls, Il., counselors will be on hand Monday, in case their services are needed.
More information on the incident were released today and that includes the names of the victims and the shooter. Shiela Bejster, 48, of Rock Falls, who was shot twice in the head with a handgun, was taken to CGH Medical Center and then flown to Saint Anthony's Hospital in Rockford, where she is listed in critical condition. Early reports did indicate that Bejster had died.
Another woman, who was in the apartment in which the shooter fled, was identified as Verna Rosas, 34 of Rock Falls. She was found dead in the living room of the apartment. She was shot twice. The shooter, Fred Bittman, 52, was found in a bedroom of the same apartment, located on West 18th Street, Rock Falls. He, it was noted, died from a self-inflicted gunshot would.
