NamUs --- Missing Persons

Help is on the Way

Todd Matthews
The day draws near -- the UDRS database of NamUs has been live for some time. And now -- hopefully this very month we will launch the missing persons database of NamUs. The two databases combined will embody the NamUs System.

The missing persons databases is online and out of public view until official launch. We already have over 1,600 missing persons cases entered. (Thanks in large part to some folks that helped me with the beta trial site.) All cases were copy from beta trial site into the final version.

Some of you with missing loved ones will soon be able to get your loved one listed on the website (you might find they are already listed) The final site will launch through www.NamUs.gov

In the mean time -- there is still much you can do to help. I wrote up a few directives to help get as many UID cases listed with UDRS by medical examiners as possible.

How YOU Can Help with the Missing & Unidentified NOW

NamUs | UDRS Outreach

If you have a missing loved one -- please make the officials aware of the NamUs system. Once the missing database goes online they will be able to register and enter all their missing persons cases.

Also please urge your local coroners and medical examiners to get their cases listed into UDRS. If you know of an unidentified person in your area, please check to see if the case has been listed on UDRS - Unidentified Decedent Reporting System

If you do not see the case listed on UDRS -- please let your local coroner or medical examiner know about the UDRS system and urge that they upload the case as soon as possible.

The sooner cases are listed with UDRS the sooner they will be electronically / manually compared to the missing persons cases.

Todd's calling to be a voice for missing and unidentified persons began when he solved the identity of the "Tent Girl" case, Barbara Hackman-Taylor, after a ten-year journey that ended in 1998.  View profile
