Nancy Kerrigan Will Be a Commentator for Entertainment Tonight at the Vancouver Figure Skating Olympics

In an exclusive tearful interview on Entertainment Tonight / Insider, Nancy Kerrigan told host Samantha Harris that she will fulfill her contract obligations to be a commentator at the Vancouver Olympics Figure Skating World Championships.

She also says that she strongly supports her brother Mark who is awaiting trial for killing their father. She disputes the medical examiner's findings that her 70 year old father Daniel's fatal heart attack resulted from being strangled by his son. The father's voice box was crushed during the struggle.

Nancy Kerrigan thanked her friends and fans for their incredible support. She said the last few weeks have been the most difficult of her life. She talked of what a fine man her father was and how much she and her children will miss him.

The Kerrigan Family is standing by the 45 year old Mark Kerrigan. Ms. Kerrigan told Entertainment Tonight / Insider host, Samantha Harris that she had visited him at the Bridgewater State Hospital where he was undergoing psychological evaluation, pending a pretrial hearing on February 24th in Woburn Massachusetts District Court. She also has talked with him by phone.

She said her lawyer-manager husband Jerry Solomon, as well as her entire family have all experienced incredible sadness; and that it isn't over yet. She referred to the medical examiner's ruling this week of the cause of her father's death. Her father's death was called a homicide at the hands of her brother. A ruling she and her family call unjust. A ruling they plan to fight. The family however has not bailed the brother out of jail.

Nancy Kerrigan, a two time Olympic Figure Skating Champion, said her father would want her to be happy and to go on. She then announced that she was preparing to leave for Vancouver to work for Entertainment Tonight as she did for the Toronto Olympics in 2006.

Her dad, she said would want her to go forward with strength and a smile. Her role on Entertainment Tonight and the Insider will be limited to commenting on the Olympic Figure Skating competitions and related stories.

A spokesperson for Ms. Kerrigan and Entertainment Tonight said she would not be answering any questions about family matters.

While I understand the family supporting the brother, the crushed voicebox has nailed it for me. He needs to do time. Amazing she can be a commentator, but perhaps it will help her with her grief.

I like Kerrigan. She got a bad wrap in the knees from Tanya Harding's thugs. Glad to know she'll be talking about her passion, figure skating.
