Two of the notable items will be the wedding dress Mrs. Reagan wore for her marriage to Ronald Reagan and the suit she wore to the late Ronald Reagan's funeral. The exhibit also pays tribute to the famous designers that helped create Mrs. Reagan's style, including designers Chanel and Valentino Garavani. The exhibit was designed by WRJ Design Associates, LLC. in collaboration with the Reagan Library staff.
Nancy Reagan was born on July 6, 1921. She was a professional actress. The last movie she performed in was "Hellcats in the Navy" where she played opposite of her husband Ronald Reagan. Nancy met Ronald Reagan in 1951 and married him a year later. Not long after their marriage, Nancy quit acting so she could be the wife she wanted to be. She said, "A woman's real happiness and real fulfillment come from within the home with her husband and children."
Nancy Reagan was the first lady from 1981 to 1989. Nancy has a long history of charitable work. She started working with charitable groups long before she was the First Lady and continues to do so to this day. Nancy has spent quite a bit of time visiting veterans, the elderly, the handicapped and drug rehabilitation centers. The former First Lady has concentrated on the fight against drugs and alcohol abuse in young people. To this day, she continues to work on her "Just say no to drugs" campaign.
Nancy is also an author. In 1982, Nancy Reagan's book "To Love a Child" in support of the Foster Grandparent Program was published. In 1989, her book "My Turn" was published. "My Turn" tells of her life in the White House.
The former First Lady is now retired and currently lives in California. She continues to participate in charitable work.
The Nancy Reagan - A First Lady's Style exhibit should be an interesting display. While you are at the Ronald Reagan Library, you can have a look around at the rest of the museum which displays artifacts from President Reagan's childhood and career.
