Nan's is located in a parking lot with a very easy to find sign that says "Nan's Pre-Owned Books" in the center with the word "BOOK" in large letters on each side of the Nan's sign.
Upon entering the store, obviously you see a lot of books. Books are by section such as Westerns, Mysteries, Romance, Self Help, Cookbooks, Non Fiction, etc. A children's section is on the right hand side of the store close to a table with a couple of chairs for patrons to sit at to look through their merchandise or read a few lines of a book they may want to buy. When you walk in, the cash register is on the right hand side of the store.
I looked through the mysteries and though there were several, didn't see any that grabbed me. Instead I picked two romances and headed to the children's area. I spent a few minutes there and picked three for my children. The prices were average for a used bookstore.
The store was neat and clean. There were two people working that seemed able to answer any questions, if I had any. The books are mostly sorted by author which makes it easier to find a certain book you may be wanting.
My one complaint is that they charged my credit card twice and didn't tell me. It wasn't one of those accidental charges either because the difference between the two charges was .2 cents so they first put in the wrong price and then did the correct price. I spent over $10 dollars and my funds took a few days to get back to me. I would have felt better if the clerk had told me of this instead of wondering if my money would ever be funded back. I didn't notice the person swiping the card more then once either otherwise I would have asked them about it. I just wish they'd given me a heads up.
Nan's Pre-Owned Books is in the same area as several thrift stores so if you enjoy thrift store shopping, make an afternoon of it and hit several stores.
Nan's is open Monday through Saturday from 10 AM to 5:30 PM and on Sunday from 1 PM to 5 PM. The bookstore is located at 1328 W Grand Ave Grover Beach, CA 93433-4226 and their phone number is (805) 489-7510.
