The child shrieks and hits the floor,
yet he's found time to kick the door.
I will not take a nap he screams,
and anyhow I want ice cream!
You drag him up the stairs with care,
he frowns and says you wouldn't dare!
I promise you I will not sleep,
he yells and shouts, again repeats.
I will not take a nap you see,
it's time for me to climb my tree.
And you wouldn't make me miss my show,
a mom that would is mean you know.
On his bed you place him quick
and warn him not to use old tricks.
Before you leave he says you're creepy,
and he won't rest cause he's not sleepy.
Ten minutes fly and there's no sound,
quietly, quick upstairs you bound.
And there you find your sleepy head
resting soundly on his bed.
With a smile
you watch him doze,
and tenderly
you kiss his nose.
