NARS Orgasm: A Make-up Revolution?

NARS the brand was started by Francois Nars. Born in southern France, Nars was fascinated by beauty magazines as a child, and loved to sketch the models. He attended the Carita Makeup School in Paris, and graduated to begin a career as a make-up artist to French models. His skills caught the attention of American Polly Mellen, the editor of American Vogue magazine at the time, and she persuaded him to come to New York. Nars worked as a make-up artist, but was frustrated by the limited colors and products available to him. He started by creating a line of lipsticks, and the rest is cosmetic history.

The first Orgasm product was a simple powdered blush described as "peachy-pink... with accents of golden shimmer." It became insanely popular. Another NARS product is the Multiple (see photo), a color in a tube much like a lipstick tube, but larger. The Multiple gets its name from its ability to function as blush, highlighter, or lipcolor. When the Multiple came out in Orgasm, again, customers flocked to buy it, and it started winning awards from magazines and websites.

The Orgasm Multiple (see photo) is the same peachy-pink with golden shimmer as the blush; if you look at it, you may think it works for some specific skin tone. You'd be wrong. This deceptively simple shade has the ability to look good on any skin tone, from very fair to very dark, and everything in between. You can smooth it lightly all over your face, and feel it moisturize as it colors, or layer it in one area for a natural flush. Use your fingers, or apply with the stick. You can even apply it to your décolleté for an added flush that may make you feel, well, orgasmic.

While the Orgasm shade doesn't come in a lipstick, you can choose Promiscuous or Sexual Healing instead. Seriously, the best-selling ever NARS lipstick is Dolce Vita, which also looks good on every woman who wears it. Orgasm does, however, come in a lip gloss. Not surprisingly, the gloss flatters every skin tone too.

The newest Orgasm product is the Illuminator (see photo). This light-weight complexion enhancer goes on sheer, but makes skin seem lighted from within. You can wear it over foundation, or on bare skin. If you're wearing a low-cut top, it will make your décolleté glow, and catch a few eyes. Again, this looks good on every skin color. It doesn't look peachy, it just glows.

While other blush, Multiple, Illuminator, and lip gloss shades will undoubtedly come and go at NARS, you can be sure that Orgasm will be there forever.
