Dream Legacy will feature an entire new set of ninja including Tsunade, Shizune, and of course powerful ninja from the mysterious Akatsuki clan. These ninja will include the fan favorite villains Kisame Hoshigaki and Itachi Uchiha, Sasuke's brother who betrayed his clan. These new ninja will add a lot to the game, not only in terms of powers and effects, but by drawing new players because of the fact that they are favored over a lot of other ninja in the anime.
Platoon cards are also being introduced in large numbers. Kakashi and Might Guy were the first platoon card introduced in the Revenge and Rebirth set, and now we are seeing more coming our way. Naruto and Iruka team up on an upcoming uncommon card as do many others. The platoon attribute is something very unique to this game. In order to play a platoon card you have to "growth" a ninja featured on that card first, only you don't get any additional power for doing this, just the ability to play the platoon card. Also platoons have all the attributes of both ninja pictured. Kakashi and Might Guy had Genjutsu and Taijutsu as well as the Fire and Lightning elements and the Sharingan eye. Iruka and Naruto will have a Fire and Lightning elements, Weapon and Ninjutsu attributes but no clone status.
Also we can assume that this new set will come with a new set of starter decks as well. The started decks form the Curse of the Sand set were quite impressive, giving many rare cards to us from previous sets and some really great starter deck only cards. The most notable one there was Jonin Intervention with in a way defined the meta until the release of Revenge and Rebirth. With this exciting news we can only hope and imagine what kind of great cards will lie and wait in these starter decks.
Early predictions show that Dream Legacy will prove to be one of the best expansions to date. It will prove to add variety to this game and draw in new players as well. We have new game mechanics to learn and a ton of new and powerful ninja to utilize in our decks. Prerelease events have yet to be scheduled but the set hits the public market on May 11th 2007, so it is assumed that events leading up to this date will take place that weekend.
