Greenhouse gases are produced by many natural and industrial processes. It contains the three most important gases, carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide and methane, that traps heat into earth's atmosphere and contribute to global warming.
Although, greenhouse gas is essential to maintaining the warmth of the Earth; without them the planet would be so cold as to be uninhabitable. However, an excess of greenhouse gases can raise the earth's temperature to life-taking level.
According to Carbon Dioxide Information Analysis Center (CDIAC) report, US along with China and Europe produce more then 50 percent of world's total greenhouse gas clouds. "Methane levels in the atmosphere have more than tripled since industrial emission started, and around one-fifth of the human contribution to greenhouse gas-driven global warming," NASA said in a news release.
"This increase in methane is worrisome because the recent stability of methane levels was helping to compensate for the unexpectedly fast growth of carbon dioxide emissions," said climate modeler Drew Shindell at NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies in New York.
Atmospheric levels of carbon dioxide have set another new peak, partly a sign of the industrial rise of Asian economies led by China and followed by India Over next few years, these highly-population nations are expected to increase its greenhouse gas emissions by-far. Long term trend looks like that greenhouse gas concentration is increasing at an increasing rate. In the 1960s, the average annual increase was only 37% of what it was in 2000 through 2007.
Non-profit organizations have step-up social awareness and are educating societies about global warming. Nations, such as US, UK, Australia and more have setup current and near term greenhouse gas reduction initiatives, likewise Clean Energy-Environment State Partnership, Green Power Partnership, WasteWise; to save a beloved planet. But its up to us, an individual to start preserving energy and respect natural resources and to "Go Green."
