These latest images reveal details as small as a few inches, and according to Hoagland, appear to confirm the alien architecture hypothesis. Richard Hoagland and his team have doggedly pursued this story, and publicly pushed to have a reluctant NASA provide more high resolution pictures of the Cydonian structures. Much science fiction (such as the popular television series X-Files) and much public ridicule have accompanied this debate. These latest pictures appear to detail walls, windows, and girders. "The debate is over," boasts Richard, "I no longer need to prove that these are ruins, my critics need to prove that they are not."
NASA has methodically explored Mars for decades, but officially, any suggestion that there may once have been life on Mars, let alone intelligent civilization, has been brushed aside in favor of answering more basic questions such as - does water exist in liquid form on the Martian surface? Long before NASA officially admitted it, Hoagland surmised the existence of such liquid water. In another episode, photographic close-ups of the Martain surface snapped by the Martian Rovers, appear to contain tiny fossil-like structures, yet NASA has refused to comment on these images.
This is the third successful orbiter to take systematic pictures of Mars, and the most sophisticated. Richard Hoagland lobbied the government for years to have a camera of sufficient resolving capacity placed on this mission. It was a great disappointment that the exploration sites chosen for the Martian robot rovers, Spirit and Opportunity, did not include the Cydonian structures.
Good luck on downloading the NASA image from the University of Arizona website. The image is 300 megabytes. Hoagland claims this detailed image shows girders, windows and walls.
Hoagland speculates that this ancient city is 160,000 years old, based upon the relationship of the apparent architecture to the Martian horizon ecliptic in that epoch, just as the pyramids of Egypt orient to the ancient horizon of Earth. It could be just coincidence, but the name of the city - Cairo (the location of the pyramids) translates to "Mars." Other ruins near the "face" appear to be Martian pyramids, but have not yet been photographed by the new cameras.

Looked at the photo...appears to be a bunch of rock. I wonder how some of Earth's features would be interpreted by aliens if there were any(which I highly doubt).
Xtina: You're referring to the Disclosure Project. If you Google it, it's an eye-opener. No wild-eyed crazies wearing aluminum hats are involved, just high-ranking officials, astronauts, law enforcement, military, etc., that have had sightings and/or insight into behind the scenes information.
NASA was airbrushing intelligently designed edifices on the moon from pictures 30+ years ago- and that project headed by that Doctor (I think called the Accountability Project) has ex NASA and military employees talking about the operations put into action to do these things and hide the truth from the public. So it wouldn't surprise me if there was something similar going on on Mars.
I've been studying this for a number of years and am really disappointed that other scientists won't research the photos. The ones that do are courageous in the face of derision from their fellow scientists. Another very interesting phenomenon are the "glass tubes" on Mars. Sir Arthur C. Clarke was amazed by them, and castigated the scientific community for not studying them. In astronomical terms, it was only yesterday that "serious" scientists said the world was flat and everything in the universe revolved around the Earth... Good article!
Cool! I love space and alien stories. Go ahead - raise my taxes for more photos like these.
is the enviroment of Mars too hostile to allow remains of people, like tools, bones, etc? I say this not to be a counter-point, but just wondering how good the planet is at keeping remains of any kinds around besides potential past structures. Is it possible there could be evidence below the surface of Mars, could it survive the harshness. I am not looking for this evidence to try to prove or disprove that picture, but perhpas a pattern in our universe. Maybe millions of years from now the sun cools and venus becomes the most hospitable planet for life. Maybe they will wonder if there is evidence of us on this cold barren planet. :)
However I don't really believe that this is part of some ancient civilization, it is really interesting to see the details at such high resolutions. There are many details that quite doesn't feel or look natural to me. I'm guessing someone or something has in fact been there. But I'm not going to subscribe to any ancient civilization theories yet...
