NASA's James Hansen on the Hot Seat

Lorraine Yapps Cohen

He cooked the books on global warming. Now, NASA's James Hansen is in the hot seat for related questionable activities at taxpayers' expense.

American Tradition Institute is bringing a case against Hansen. Who's Hansen? Dr. James Hansen is perhaps the most famous global warming activist, an employee of NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies.

Information, please

Under the Freedom of Information Act, ATIis requesting information regarding Hansen's global warming activist activities while employed at NASA. The information seeks clarification whether Hansen fulfilled federal disclosure laws and complied with federal ethics regulations.

It is suspected that Hansen received $1.2 million in cash awards, gifts, and support for activist activities perpetuating the global warming hoax. Hansen might have failed to file the required applications for outside employment including books, speeches, and other presentations promoting a false global warming phenomenon. Hansen is suspected to have accessed these activities through his good name at NASA, enjoying its reputation and funding mechanisms for advancing the hoax.

Of course, NASA stands by its own, saying the requested information violates Hansen's rights of privacy. One wonders about the rights of tax payers? We don't part with our hard-earned income to support science lies.

Scientist off the rails

Hansen has been caught using the resources and good name of government to promote the public perception of catastrophic climate warming. He has called for trials of oil company CEOs for "crimes against humanity." In an abuse of Holocaust history, he has labeled trains carrying coal to power plants "death trains." He has testified in court on behalf of gangs that tried to shut down a UK coal plant. He has called for citizens to rise up in civil disobedience.

All these activities and more occur on your nickel. They are possibly in violation of the Hatch Act which makes partisan political activities by federal employees unlawful. You can't have federal civil servants going around calling for people to break the law. Now it turns out that there may be a good old fashioned profit motive involved as well as concern for the planet.

The people of America who watch out for these things have had quite enough of Hansen. Using one of the freedoms the government yet provides, they are requesting the information that would expose the corruption of a government agency's corruption of science.

    Wow...

An excellent report, Lorraine. This certainly doesn't surprise me, given how much political correctness and corruption has crept in to government, regardless of which party is in power.

I like it when you you "tell it like it is" and "lay it on the line" as you can do so well. You are right on target! I am so worn-out from nut-jobs like Hansen (Greed and Money, money, money). Sadly these lies are spreading and they are akin to a cancer that has a death grip on the health of our nation.

Excellent reporting. Best advice for gifts when they can be misconstrued is, "When it doubt, don't!" You are awesome with the tough topics and your reviews!
