Nascar Crafts for Seniors and Toddlers: Team Frames

Ann Siper
Here is a fun idea for an easy Nascar craft perfect for seniors and toddlers to make together. If your family loves Nascar, then let the grandparents and grandkids have a fun time making these fun Nascar picture frames.

This craft is great for seniors a toddler because they are very hands on. The whole craft can be made inside and is very doable if mobility is an issue.

To Make Thes NASCAR Frames You Will Need:

Pre made wood frames

Acrylic paints

Wooden Numbers or Plastic Numbers

Wood Glue

Now to get started you want to paint out the wood frame in them main body color of your favorite Nascar car. This going to be the background for the numbers so make sure you get the look you want here.

While the wood frame is drying you want to start working on the numbers. You can get as detailed as you want here. I like to paint out the numbers of my favorite team car for Nascar in the main color. When the bold color dries you can use a paint brush or paint pen to outline in white or whichever color they have outlining their numbers.

Now, you do not have to use only one set of numbers. You and cover the whole Nascar craft frame in these painted out race car numbers ot get more of a whimsical look.

Tip: For a fun look try using wood numbers in all sizes and styles. This will give a fun look to the finshed product.

The whole point of this painted wood frame and number is to sort of create a simple painting project that will prepare toddlers for later building and painting small model cars. While a toddler may be too young to help paint such fine detail on a model car, these race car numbers can be easily painter din no time.

Once all numbers are dry it is time ot start adhering them to the frame. I like to use Gorilla Glue for this. Only your seniors should touch this glue if you use it. It can be messy, but the numbers will never come off.

Another great opting for this wood Nascar craft is to simply of course use wood glue. Kids can easily use this and wash it (or peel it) off their hands later.

Continue adding the numbers all over the frame, then let the glue dry for 24 hours.

Now, to really seal the work I like to coat the whole piece in a few layers of matte clear spray paint. This can be bought for 99 cents at super centers. Do this outside and be sure to take the glass out of th Nascar frame.

Once all paint is dry, then take a photo of you toddler and seniors an insert it in the Nascar craft frame to enjoy!
