NASCAR Drivers Poised to Win the Sprint Cup Championship

The top NASCAR teams poised to win the 2009 Sprint Cup Championship are Carl Edwards, Kyle Bush and Jimmie Johnson. Every NASCAR driver and team races to have the points to "Race for the Chase", but these three teams "have it together". The winner of the NASCAR 2008 series was Jimmie Johnson, winning three years in a row and tying the record of past three year winner, Cale Yarborough (1975-78).

These are three NASCAR drivers most capable of racing for the Championship Trophy:

Carl Edwards

Carl Edwards drives the number 99, Ford Fusion car for the Roush Fenway Racing Team. With long time Crew Chief, Bobby Osborne, returning pit crew members and second runner up for the Championship in 2008, he is poised to win in 2009.

Carl is 30 years old from Columbia, Missouri and recently married. He attended The University of Missouri and was a substitute teacher prior to signing with Roush Racing. Carl works with Children Charities at home and while on the road. He is from a family with racing history as Carl's father, Mike, won 200 feature races driving modified stock cars and midgets in mid-western states. Carl's career total earnings since starting in the Sprint Cup series is $8,095,200. Major sponsor of the 99 car is Aflac.

Kyle Bush

Kyle Bush drives the number 18, Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing Team. Returning Crew Chief, Steve Addington and pit crew members have Kyle poised to run for the Trophy in 2009. Kyle is 24 years old from Las Vegas, Nevada and brings with him the Vegas show style to the track! Kyle's driving style excites fans as he maneuvers race tracks with somewhat reckless abandon! His career driving in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series started in 2004 and he finished 10th in the 2008 series overall points. He set a record for the most driver wins in 2008 with eight wins in Sprint, ten wins in Nationwide and three in Trucks. The Number 18 car's major sponsor is M & M and total winnings for Kyle through the 2008 season was $6,617,590.

Kyle's older brother, Kurt, won the 2004 Cup Championship. It is noteworthy that Kyle graduated with honors from Durango (Nev.) High School a year early to pursue his racing career.

Jimmie Johnson

Jimmie Johnson cannot be counted out of the Race for the Chase, Sprint Cup Championship. Although many believe that Jimmie cannot follow through with a fourth year Championship, his Crew Chief, Chad Knaus is one of the very best in the business. The pit crew has won awards for their flawless performances and Jimmie is one of the best drivers in NASCAR racing. He drives the number 48 Chevrolet with his major sponsor being Lowes. Jimmie is 34 years old and from El Cajon, California. His total earnings through the 2008 season were $7,354,860.

Jimmie and his wife Chandra founded the Jimmie Johnson Foundation in 2006 to assist children, families and communities in need throughout the United States.

Each of these three NASCAR teams and drivers has a real chance to win the Sprint Cup Championship. Although all the other drivers will be working hard to achieve that goal, these three, with luck, should come out on top. The winner will be determined only at the final race!
