NASCAR Gillette Fusion 500 2010: Las Vegas Odds to Win & Picks

Pocono Track May Be Boring to Watch but a Long Shot Will Make it Fun

Todd Jacobs
The Gillette Fusion 500 being held at the Pocono Speedway this weekend may not be the most engaging race on the NASCAR Sprint Cup Schedule but it can provide a nice long shot win at the sportsbook. There were some big adjustments by the Las Vegas Hilton Superbook in light of what happened in the Coca Cola 600.

Reutimann was dropped from 60-1 to 40-1 odds to win and Dale Earnhardt Jr was moved from 40-1 to 60-1. Other big adjustments were Kurt Busch from 12-1 to 8-1 and Juan Pablo Montoya dropping down to 12-1 from 25-1 at Charlotte. Montoya was reduced so drastically because of his performance and love for the Pocono track. Pocono suits Montoya well because it is a flat track that requires skill and seat of the pants driving.

Juan Pablo Montoya is a favorite at Pocono based on past performance.
Juan Pablo Montoya is a driver that has raced in all forms of racing and above all, he is a race car driver. Montoya has performed well in NASCAR at Pocono and he is confident on this track. Montoya is a solid favorite to capture the pole for the Gillette Fusion 500 and if he does this will make him a solid favorite to capture his first win since Sonoma 2008. Take Juan Pablo Montoya at 12-1 to win the NASCAR Gillette Fusion 500.

Tony Stewart at 20-1 is coming into his best time of year.
Tony Stewart gets hot when the temperature dial goes up. Stewart is the ultimate boy of Summer and he always has a tendency to do well once the calendar flips to June. Stewart has struggled in his second year as a car owner but Pocono has been a track that suits Stewart's style. Stewart is a great second bet at 20-1 to win the NASCAR Gillette Fusion 500.

Kurt Busch makes for a solid cover bet.
Kurt Busch is another driver that is strong on flat long courses but his forte in the 2010 NASCAR season has been the mile and a half cookie cutter tracks. Pocono is a track that requires a strong motor and a driver that knows when to ease into the corner an power out. A perfect description of Kurt Busch's driving style. Place a cover bet on Kurt Busch at 8-1 to win the NASCAR Gillette Fusion 500.

Long shot bet this week will make everyone laugh but not so fast my friend.
AJ Allmendinger, driving for Richard Petty Motorsports, is a teammate of Kasey Kahne. Kahne has performed well at Pocono Raceway in the past and this track could suit Allmendinger, an open wheel driver. With a long and flat track, Allmendinger's pit crew will not hurt him in this race and at 200-1 Allmendinger is worth a small wager.

The following are the Las Vegas Hilton Superbook odds on the NASCAR Sprint Cup Gillette Fusion 500 at Pocono Raceway June 6, 2010.
