NASCAR Nationwide Stater Bros 300: Odds to Win & Picks

Kyle Busch is Favorite at 2-1

Todd Jacobs
The Stater Bros 300 at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California, is usually dominated by the NASCAR Sprint Cup drivers but don't forget about the regulars. With Kyle Busch as a 2-1 favorite and a solid pick to win the race it never hurts to back that bet up with a couple of decent long shots.

Two drivers to consider as good long shots are NASCAR Nationwide regulars.
The first pick is Justin Allgaier at 40-1, he has a legitimate shot and with the Penske Dodge, he has the horsepower required to win on the long sweeping two mile track in Fontana. Allgaier was impressive at Daytona last Sunday and he was running well late last year. Allgaier also has a chip on his shoulder, with Roger Penske filling the vacant #12 NASCAR Sprint Cup ride with Brad Keselowski. Allgaier performed well in NASCAR Nationwide last season and expected an opportunity in NASCAR Sprint Cup in 2010.

Second long shot pick is Brendan Gaughan at 60-1. Gaughan has performed well at the Auto Club Speedway track and has won races in the past on the two mile speedway. Gaughn even had a chance to win a NASCAR Sprint Cup race while driving for Penske Racing. Gaughan is a legitimate contender to make a statement early in the NASCAR Nationwide season for Rusty Wallace Inc.

Some medium shots worth a look.
Greg Biffle at 12-1 is a strong play especially since he will have a Roush Yates engine under the hood. Biffle has won on the Auto Club Speedway in every NASCAR racing division and is always a threat to run and hide from the competition. Also David Reutimann driving a Toyota team car will be a nice play at 15-1.

Head to head bets are always a good place to look for value.
Joey Logano -150 vs Kevin Harvick +130.
Driving the #20 Joe Gibbs Toyota in the NASCAR Nationwide race Logano is a favorite with the horsepower but don't write off Kevin Harvick. Harvick's driving his own Kevin Harvick Inc ca that he drove to third place. His other KHI car won. Now on the Auto Club Speedway, a venue that requires high speed and strong engines both drivers have the equipment but Harvick has the experience edge. Take Harvick +130.

Steve Wallace -145 vs Danica Patrick +125.
Danica is driving a Hendrick powered JR Motorsports car and that gives her an automatic edge at Auto Club Speedway. Wallace will have horsepower also but Patrick will perform well on this long, sweeping, flat track. Danica and JR Motorsports should have stuck to their guns and started Danica at Auto Club Speedway for her NASCAR Nationwide debut. She will surprise NASCAR hard core fans with her run this Saturday. Take Danica +125.
