Nashville Predator's J.P. Dumont and His Hockey Career

BS
Jean-Pierre Dumont (most commonly referred to as J.P.) has been playing in the NHL for over ten years. J.P. Dumont was born in Montreal, Quebec in Canada on April 1, 1978, making him thirty-one years old. This right wing is 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighs 219 pounds. J.P. Dumont's impressive hockey career begins like a great deal of other Canadian hockey players. J.P. Dumont played for the Val-d'Or Foreurs in the QMJHL (Quebec Major Junior Hockey League) in the 1994-1995 season. The QMJHL is one of the three leagues that makes up the CHL (Canadian Hockey League), which is the highest level of junior hockey in the country.

For four hockey seasons, J.P. Dumont played with the Val-d'Or Foreurs in the QMJHL. While he was with the Val-d'Or Foreurs, he had teammates such as Roberto Luongo (who now plays for Vancouver) and Steve Begin (who now plays for Dallas). In 1996, J.P. Dumont entered the NHL draft. Dumont was selected by the New York Islanders, 3rd overall, and was obviously the Islander's first round pick. Despite being drafted in 1996, J.P. Dumont stayed in the QMJHL with the Val-d'Or Foreurs until the end of the 1997-1998 season. When it was time to work out a contract between the New York Islanders and J.P. Dumont, there were complications. The team and Dumont could not come to an agreement which lead the New York Islanders to trade him to the Chicago Blackhawks in 1998.

J.P. Dumont started of the 1998-1999 season with the Chicago Blackhawks in the NHL, but the season was not a remarkable one. He only played 25 games with the Blackhawks, but he did register 15 points. The next season with the Blackhawks, J.P. Dumont got a little bit more playing time. In the 1999-2000 season, Dumont played 47 games with the Blackhawks. For the 2000-2001 season, J.P. Dumont was traded by the Chicago Blackhawks to the Buffalo Sabres.

With the Buffalo Sabres, J.P. Dumont saw a lot more ice time. Dumont played 79 games with the Buffalo Sabres his first season with them. J.P. Dumont remained with the Buffalo Sabres, but as he continued to play more seasons with them, he played less and less games. Dumont only played 54 games with the Sabres his last season there, the 2005-2006 season. During the the 2004-2005 NHL Lockout, J.P. Dumont took a break from hockey. After the 2005-2006 season, the Buffalo Sabres traded Dumont to the Nashville Predators.

J.P. Dumont has been playing with the Nashville predators since the 2006-2007 season. Dumont has played almost every single game with the Predators since he began playing with them. In 2008, Dumont registered his 400 points in a game against the Columbus Blue Jackets. J.P. Dumont remains with the Nashville Predators.
