If There is One Place I Can Suggest Taking Your Young Tween it is Nashville TN. I Promise No One Will Come Home Disappointed.
When we first got to TN my family was so amazed how busy the streets were with cars considering we are from Virginia. I had never driven in traffic like that but some how I blended right in. After the baby was born, we decided to visit a few places we had heard were some of the best spots. Now this is where the adventure begins.
The first place we visited was Bass Pro Shops located at 323 Opry Mills Drive, Nashville, TN. 37214. My husband and ten year old son had a field day at this store. It was filled with boats of all makes and models including party barges which I so wish I could have purchased while there. . Fishing rods and reels. All the lures you can imagine fishing with. There was even a tank with huge catfish and bass. My son was thrilled with that because he wants to catch a monster fish that size. Bass Pro Shops also had a miniature shooting range with fake guns. My son loved this because he was shooting at ducks and deer. Of course he only hit a couple, but at least he tried. When looking above your head you will see stuffed bears, fish, ducks and any type of animal you can imagine hunting. It was a sight to behold looking at the different stuffed animals. Check out the website for more information on what they offer. Bass Pro Shops or you can call them at 615-514-5200. Right now they are temporarily closed due to flooding but should reopen soon.
The second place I suggest visiting is The Grand Ole Opry. This was the one place my children and I would not want to leave TN without seeing. The Grand Ole Opry is a place to go and watch country music singers perform. Many of the best country singers like Loretta Lynn, Hank Williams and Patsy Cline had stood on their stage and performed. When you walk up to The Grand Ole Opry you see, huge wooden doors, tables and chairs along the walkway. It is truly a sight to behold. My son and I took pictures standing in front of the Opry doors, as did my daughter and her son. The grand Ole Opry also gives tours for $12. With the tour you get inside and can view the stage and the seating arrangements. Unfortunately, my family and I missed the tour. However, we did get lots of pictures of the outside which great. The Grand Ole Opry is located at 2804 Opryland Drive, Nashville, TN. 37214. You can reach them by telephone at 615-871-6779.
The Gaylord Hotel is a wonderful place for sleeping and relaxing. This hotel has indoor water falls, ponds and indoor water plants. We actually walked behind the waterfall, it was a wonderful experience looking through the backside of the waterfall. The rooms have a balcony over looking the entire inside of the hotel. Walkways lead you from one side of the hotel to the other. Enjoy a meal on the main floor while sitting in gazebo's with lights. The sign before you enter the hotel states that some of the best stars have walked this walkway. I was hoping I would run into a country singer, unfortunately it did not happen. Maybe when you take you family you will be luckier than I was. The Gaylord Hotel is located at 1 Gaylord Drive, Nashville, TN 37214. You can always call for information at 615-316-6800. Unfortunately, The Gaylord Hotel is closed right now due to the flood.
The Aquarium Restaurant is located in Opry Mills Mall and serves some of the best food you could ever put in your mouth. While you are eating you can watch the underwater sea world. It is really like eating underwater. The fish aquarium 's are filled with gorgeous fish of different colors and sizes. The food consists of lobster and shrimp and just about any seafood you can think of. The buffalo shrimp bites are to die for as is waikiki wings. If you are not keen on seafood they also serve pepperoni pizza for the kids. If your child's birthday happens to arrive while in Nashville, yo can have a birthday party here at the aquarium. They will be allowed to visit the sting ray exhibit, free refills on soda, balloons and much more. The address for The Aquarium is suite 516 in the Opry Mills Mall. For more information you can call 615-514-3474. Unfortunately, The Aquarium is closed right now due to flooding.
Another fun place for tweens to visit in Nashville, TN. is the Sting Ray Reef and Exhibit. My children had so much fun here petting the sting rays. Children and adults are allowed in to feed the sting ray shrimp. The baby sting rays are so small and cute. The sting ray reef also had boa snakes and spiders in an exhibit that you could look at through glass. My son had so much while he was visiting that he did not want to leave. Just outside of the sting ray exhibit there is a simulator you can ride for $5. You have a choice of roller coasters, movies scenes such as horror scenes and many other adventures. The ride lasts about five minutes and is well worth the five dollars. If my son had his way he would have rode every scene.
If there is one place I can suggest taking your young tween it is Nashville TN. I promise no one will come home disappointed.
