Official Twilight Convention in Nashville

The Official Twilight Convention made a stop in Nashville this weekend at the Gaylord Opryland Resort Hotel. While the biggest snow in several years piled up outside, inside celebrities like Peter Facinelli (Dr. Cullen) and Gil Birmingham (Billy Black) warmed things up. Since most of the guests were staying at the Opryland Hotel and had arrived ahead of the snow, the crowd didn't seem very affected by the accumulation.

Twilight Convention Special Guests

The Twilight weekend brought a Who's Who of Twilight cast members to Nashville: Peter Facinelli, Gil Birmingham, Charlie Bewley, Michael Welch and part of the wolf pack (Bronson Pelletier and Kiowa Gordon) up close and personal... but not Kellan Lutz. Examiner reports that Lutz, who had planned to appear at the Nashville convention, had a conflict and had to cancel to the disappointment of all.

Twilight Convention Special Events

The Twilight event featured concessions, autograph signings, photo ops, and some special events including a celebrity breakfast, a Volturi Ball, and a music night. During the day the cast members appeared for Q & A sessions where they answered questions from the audience. I will be revealing some of the Twilight secrets share by Peter Facinelli and Gil Birmingham in upcoming articles. There were also trivia contests and video presentations of Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and the other cast members answering questions from fans.

My press pass didn't get me into any of the special features, so I cannot comment on them. For $50 I skipped the photo op with Peter Facinelli, and I don't plan to go back for the $99 breakfast. That didn't stop others from forking over their cash, however. The expensive Volturi Ball was already sold out by the time the convention started.

Hillywood Show

One of the most surprising treats was the Hillywood show. I almost skipped it because it sounded contrived and hokey, but it was actually rather clever. See for yourself in the video below. The Hillywood team also acted as hosts and emcees for the convention and did a great job. They were accessible, friendly, and gracious. Come to think of it, that was my impression of Gil Birmingham and Peter Facinelli. They seemed to enjoy being with their fans, answering questions and exchanging a little banter with the guests.

All in all the Twilight convention was a pleasant way to spend a snowy Nashville day. More about the Nashville convention at: Twilight Secrets: What Secrets Did Gil Birmingham (Billy Black) Reveal at the Twilight Convention?
