It is a beautiful, tranquil 1830's antebellum farm and is on the national register of historic places.
As a wedding minister, I have the opportunity to visit many of the historic locations around Nashville where weddings are held. While this is a fairly new location for weddings, it is quickly becoming a favorite Nashville wedding site.
I went out there for a night wedding, and there were lit torches along the street. As I walked toward to the front of Cedarwood Mansion, there were candles in jars hanging from old stately trees. Really gave me the sense of traveling back to an earlier time.
At Cedarwood Mansion, you can have an indoor fireside wedding, or a garden ceremony....a small, intimate gathering, or 200 guests and up. There's plenty of space for parking right next to the property in an open field. An attendant is there to direct people to parking.
Here are some of the amenities I've seen at Cedarwood Mansion:
The Yarbrough House as it is called was built in 1835. This is the main house. It has 1856 square feet with red oak hardwood floors. It has a number of features giving it an aristocratic turn of the century atmosphere, including staircases, fireplaces, plantation shutters and an antique chandelier.
There's a Bride's Suite in the main home, and toward the back of the house a separate Groom's Cottage where the guys hang out and wait the call.
All around the property there are features that give it that southern feel through and through. There's the white farm fence lined with roses. Guests seem to really enjoy the antebellum lawn and front porch. This is the same spot where political rallies and social events were held in the mid 1800's. Here you can have cold lemonade for your guests to enjoy as they visit with one another and wait for the wedding time.
Out back there is a stone and masonry covered patio and this is where I usually see them set up for the reception. (Smaller receptions are sometimes held inside the home). It provides a good few of the meadow and barn that rises up the hillside behind the home.
I know that the owners are taking great care to do a top-notch job for couples and their families. While the venue is new, those who are running it are experienced with weddings and know what they are doing.
If you go out, you'll enjoy seeing the gardens, terraces, shady lawn, rustic barn and even a spot back up the hill where you can see downtown Nashville.
I am beginning to hear enthusiastic comments from couples who are having their weddings at Historic Cedarwood Mansion! This is one of those places that due to it's quality and atmosphere, it's only a matter time that all their bookings will come through referrals of happy couples.
You can schedule a visit to see if it fits your needs. If for some reason it doesn't, you'll enjoy the tour nonetheless.
