Natalie Dylan Receives $3.7 Million Bid on Virginity Auction

Tina Molly Lang
Back in September, Natalie Dylan sparked controversy in cyberspace when she placed her virginity for sale to the highest bidder. Today, the Telegraph reports she has received offers as high as $3.7 million.

Natalie Dylan is a 22-year-old woman from San Diego, seeking to raise money to pay for her master's degree. Natalie Dylan wants to pursue women's studies and go into marriage and family therapy. After this experience, she will certainly be able to offer a unique perspective in her field.

Natalie Dylan insists that she is not being exploited, and that her virginity auction is a conscious exercise of free will. As I wrote in my article back in September, Natalie Dylan's motives are purely financial. As she explained "we live in a capitalist society. Why shouldn't I be able to capitalize on my virginity?... Why lose it to some guy in a Toyota when you can use it to pay for your education?"

For what it's worth, Natalie Dylan seems to be proceeding carefully with her virginity auction. She disregards graphically sexual requests and makes it clear that she is not looking for a boyfriend. She is also willing to undergo medical tests if necessary. While many in society will condemn her choice, Natalie Dylan stands by her decision to auction her virginity. "I think me and the person I do it with will both profit greatly from the deal."

While Natalie Dylan's arguments are cogent from a purely capitalistic standpoint, there are of course the social and emotional implications of her decision. Virginity is more meaningful when given in love. If and when she meets someone special in the future, she may regret her irrevocable decision to auction her virginity to the highest bidder.

Natalie Dylan's case is reminiscent of the movie Indecent Proposal, where Demi Moore agrees to $1 million in exchange for a night with Robert Redford. While the decision complicates her marriage to Woody Harrelson, Demi Moore eventually reunites with her husband, who returns the money to Robert Redford. Although the movie received mixed reviews, Indecent Proposal ended with the reminder that money can't buy love. Then again, Natalie Dylan isn't looking for love.

Prostitution is legal in various parts of Nevada. The brothel is putting on the auction. She is meeting the buyer there. I'm not seeing what laws are being broken. And, as for the check bouncing. I'm sure it will be pre-cleared, and I'm sure the guy will be required to undergo tests to check for any STDs before the transaction is completed.

if they want to pay a couple dollars to experience it with another person -- its their money, and their choice.

Would I pay millions for a girls virginity? Never. If I were a girl, would I take millions to give up my virginity? You better believe it. And, would it haunt me? Umm...no. I'd be set for life, and I'd be just like the majority of the population who gave it up for free...only I'd be 3 million dollars smarter than them. Oh, and I still might meet that special someone who I truly loved. Thousands of non-virgin/divorced people do it daily - its truly not a rare phenomenon.

Though, I'm surprised the comments are all from people who held out until marriage. I've only known two people who have done that thus far (and, they got married at 18/19 - and were LDS). Virginity is a word.

Brilliant. Why women give up sex for free has always been beyond me. In other countries where its legal -- some can make a decent living off of it. If guys/girls are willing to pay for it -- why not? "High class" escort girls live a far better financial life than the average middle class worker. Can they be happy? Well, how many people hate their jobs, but go home to a loving family? Yet, keep the wretched job because it pays the bills.

And, to the men who think they won't (or don't) pay for sex. Sure. Right. If you take a woman on a date, buy nice clothes, buy a nice car, buy her a gift(s), and do whatever else might make you attractive to the opposite sex...you're paying for it. The only difference is with a prostitute, she tells you up front the price, you agree, conduct the transaction, and go on about your day/life. Its a sure fire shot, and doesn't involve coaxing/lying/playing/etc that can go on for months/years. Tons of men and women pleasure themselves alone, i

Once she sales her virginty she can be arrested for prositution. And I'm gonna laugh at her when the guy writes her a check and it bounces. Cuz honestly what Judge will take the case?

In light of the numbers responding and the amount offered, I have to ask her to consider why she is willing to sale for so little something that is obviously worth so much.

This cultural switching of the price tags on what we value is what prompted me to write the article "Victoria's Secret Disclosed!" http://www.advice-for-lifetime-relationships.com/victoriassecret.html

We really have cheapened the human sexual experience and personally lost the proper placement of value our creator has given our bodies.

Each of our bodies have value, but the value we each place on it will be determined by how we use it.

Ummm...I am speechless. This is wrong on so many levels and something Natalie will surely regret for the rest of her life.
