Natasha Richardson

What is most astonishing to me about the death of this lovely actress is how freakish it is, as though a terrifying urban legend comes to life. The world becomes vulnerable and unhinged serving to remind us how unpredictable life can be; catastrophe can strike on an average Monday afternoon.

One minute I'm in bed trying to peel myself from the duvet and get to work and the next, airplanes are flying into the Twin Towers and exploding in a ball of death.

One second, you're on a ski slope, you fall a little but, you get up and hide your embarrassment with graciousness and then shortly afterward a small headache begins to throb and then your brain dead and then you're just dead leaving widows and orphan's in your wake.

How can life make such an unimaginable leap from mundane to total annihilation?

On the upside, Liam Nieson is back on the market. Maybe it's too soon; both for dry, ironic humour and for Liam to start dating.

Ms.Richardson is in one my favorite movies, The Handmaid's Tale; it's based on a book written by a Canadian author I never quite developed a taste for, nonetheless, the movie is brilliant, beautiful and devastating.

The plot from IMDB: "In an apocalyptical and polluted rightwing religious tyranny, a young woman is put into sexual slavery on account of her now rare fertility". Faye Dunaway, Aidan Quinn and Robert Duvall also star along side Richardson. The Handmaid's Tale is based on the book of the same name by Canadian Author Margaret Atwood.Natasha Richarson played the lead, Offred.Plot: Religious extremism, fertility, class, wealth distribution and power in a devestated world.www.imdb.com

It will always seem surreal that she is gone as she was so full of vitality and joy. RIP

I am very much heartbroken over Natasha's death. It all seems so unfair, and it's scary how quickly life can change. Nice, thoughtful article.

In the rush of life, things like this kinda make you stop, catch your breath and say, "Oh, no." And then you get to thinking about it more and it makes you sad and panicky, knowing that at any moment, you could be next.
