Natasha Richardson is in Critical Condition After Skiing Accident

Actress Natasha Richardson is in critical condition after a ski accident at the Mont Tremblant ski resort. According to the ski resort and Associated Press, Natasha Richardson fell on the beginner's trail during a lesson and reported not feeling well. Although she appeared fine at first, she started to feel the effects of head injury an hour later. She was later brought to the Centre Hospitalier Laurentien in Ste-Agathe then transferred to Hopital du Sacre Coeur in Montreal.

Natasha Richardson Skiing Accident: Family and Career

Natasha Richardson comes from a dynasty of British actors. She is the daughter of late director Tony Richardson and Oscar-winning actress Vanessa Redgrave. Natasha Richardson's sister Joely stars in the television series Nip/Tuck.

Natasha Richardson is also the wife of actor Liam Neeson, famous for his roles in Schindler's List, Stars Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, The Chronicles of Narnia, and Michael Collins.

The Redgrave family of actors also includes Sir Michael Redgrave, wife Daisy Scudamore, Roy Redgrave, wife Rachel Kempson, Corin and Lynn Redgrave, and Carlo Nero (husband of Joely Richardson). Other famous acting dynasties include the Baldwin Brothers (Alec, Daniel, William, and Stephen), and the Barrymore Dynasty which includes (among others) Lionel Barrymore (It's a Wonderful Life) and Drew Barrymore.

Natasha Richardson's most notable roles include A Month in the Country, The Handmaid's Tale, Nell (where she starred with future husband Liam Neeson), and The Parent Trap (where she played Lindsay Lohan's mother). She also won a Tony Award for her performance on Cabaret.

Natasha Richardson Skiing Accident: Other Skiing Accidents

Natasha Richardson is not the only famous personality to suffer from a skiing accident. On January 5, 1998, actor and politician Sonny Bono was killed in a skiing accident after hitting a tree at the Heavenly Ski Resort in Nevada. Sonny Bono's accident came just days after Michael LeMoyne Kennedy, son of Robert F. Kennedy, was killed in a ski accident in Aspen, CO. Michael Kennedy had hit a tree while playing football on skis.

Hopefully Natasha Richardson will have a full and timely recovery.

    im soory to hear about the accident, but cant help but wonder why people are so stupid about wearing protective gear!this could have turned out differently if she had a helmet on. her fault

    Carlo Nero is Natasha and Joely's half-brother, not Joely's husband. He is the son of Vanessa Redgrave and her husband Franco Nero.
