National Blonde Brownie Day - January 22nd

A Delicious Day, Especially a La Mode

Yes, January 22nd is National Blonde Brownie Day. How do we celebrate? Well, we bake and eat blonde brownies, of course. And, if you can't bake, then you must acquire them by purchasing or having someone else bake them for you.

A blonde brownie, also known as a blondie, is different from the traditional brownie. Traditional brownies are made with chocolate and blonde brownies are made with light brown sugar.

Here's a recipe from web-holidays.com to celebrate National Blonde Brownie Day.

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon salt

2 cup packed brown sugar

2/3 cup butter or margarine

2 eggs, slightly beaten

2 teaspoon vanilla

1 cup chocolate chips

1/2 cup chopped nuts

Preheat oven to 350 F.

Mix flour, soda, baking powder and salt.

Melt butter in saucepan.

Add sugar.

Blend in eggs and vanilla.

Add flour mixture gradually, mixing well.

Spread in 13x9 inch pan.

Sprinkle with chips and nuts.

Bake 30 minutes.

Cool in pan; cut into bars.

Makes 48

To celebrate National Blonde Brownie Day you definitely should add 2 large scoops of chocolate (or whatever flavor you prefer) ice cream to the top. Enjoy!
