Let your kids have some fun with chocolate, at least on National Chocolate Day! Yes, I know candy is not the best for the health of your kids, but some chocolate actually does have health benefits. Here are some activities that are fun for kids on National Chocolate Day! Some are even edible! Yum! (OK, so this author may be just as excited about National Chocolate Day as the kids..shhh, don't tell anyone.)
Chocolate Covered Treats for Kids on National Chocolate Day
Jaipi Sixbear reminds us of this fun activity for kids with her article about "Chocolate Covered Fruit From the Denver Garden." Chocolate covered fruit is a wonderful treat and mostly healthy too. The kids will have fun dipping the fruit into the chocolate (what kid doesn't like to make a mess). They will enjoy eating it even more afterward - yummy taste with double the mess. This should be a real winner as a National Chocolate Day activity for kids.
Chocolate Coloring Pages for Kids on National Chocolate Day
Kids absolutely love to color - OK, and so do some of us adults. Watching their pieces of art develop right before their eyes is still an amazement even in the age of video games and computers. But where are you going to find chocolate coloring pages? No worry, I've done the research for you:

Chocolate Books and Movies for Kids on National Chocolate Day
What's National Chocolate Day without reading about Charlie and his great chocolate factory? How about having a marathon of Charlie and his chocolate by watching the original Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (1971) and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005). Not much into movies, don't have these chocolate movies, or the rental store's out? How about dropping by the library or used book store and picking up a copy. It can be a great story for a Family Reading Circle, especially on National Chocolate Day!

Post a CommentI like the old Willy Wonka movie best also. The new one is alright but the original can't be beat. :-)
A truly Great Idea! Chocolate and Willy Wonka. Got to admit, though. I like the old movie best. Say, I have an idea. What about Chocolate Epoxy? Mix two kinds together, and Wham-O!
Wonderful and great links!
What fun!
What a great list of resources for National Chocolate Day! We have been focusing this week on the local chili cook off and miss this holiday but guess what we learned that some teams use in their chili- yes, it is chocolate. Hope your family had a fun Halloween Lynn.
Wish I would've known about this. :)
