Consider the $10.6 Trillion dollar debt number in January 2009 was for the preceding 218 years COMBINED. All the wars, all the social spending, all the $400 hammers and $700 toilet seats, all of it rang up to over $10 Trillion dollars, so a princely and insane sum indeed.
But since the most wonderful man to ever live assumed the office of POTUS nothing good has happened for this nation...nothing at all! Despite the progressive talking points about Stimulus and health reform, consider the majority of American's still not in favor of those actions. Isn't this still a nation Founded and run upon the "consent of the governed?" Despite the efforts and wishes of Obama and progressives to the contrary, indeed it is. If citizens are wanting it, if Constitutional, it happens. And if we DON'T, it isn't supposed to happen.
Now add in the DNC Chair Tim Kaine's admission as I reported yesterday that "Obama too busy with ObamaCare to deal with job creation." How many times have Obama said something to the effect of "jobs and the economy are my first priority?" A few dozen? Probably a few hundred, more likely. Since Kaine's admission I feel completely just and accurate in therefore calling our president a liar. I mean the DNC should know what the party is doing, right?
Is this the straw that breaks the camel's back? Of course not. Obama is supported by a plentiful sycophancy and still has a majority in the US Senate, so we are stuck with him and this until at least 2013. At the rate of explosive growth of the debt based entirely upon Obama's first two years, we can expect, with interest, a national debt of at least $17 or $18 Trillion by January, 2013 if nothing changes from its current course and clearly Obama isn't changing anything no matter how many lies he tells us.
Therefore it's time to seriously pose the question, and NOT rhetorically I mean, is this Cloward & Piven in play? Cloward & Piven refers to the married couple college professors, extreme progressives for sure by their own admission, who forwarded the concept of forcing social change on this nation by breaking the bank, specifically by drastically increasing social spending. Cloward & Piven forwarded the theory that progressives seeking a "reset" of US government manners of business could most easily achieve that end by the continued use of "concern" for the welfare of the less fortunate to eventually break the bank with over-spending. It was framed as using the cover of "concern" to bankrupt the nation.
So, is this it? Despite the less than perfect health care system the US had before Obama came to office, when a world leader from the third world needed major health care, the US was their usual destination of choice. Why? Would the Saudi King come to the US to get second rate care?
The truth is our system is without doubt the best in the world, but it is a for-profit system, and that, the "for-profit" aspect is the part that ruffles the feathers of loony birds. They hate corporate anything, in terms of lip service. Of course in reality they shop at the same corporations the rest of us do. But it is their ideology that demands "for-profit" business is evil because it is based on the concept of free choice, individual liberty and how much cash one has, or conversely, how good of an insurance policy one has. I wonder how many well off progressives DO NOT have health insurance, cause, ya know, it's so flawed and unfair? Betcha one could count 'em on two hands! See, even they don't believe their own lies, but they do love to repeat 'em!
But make no mistake...this is not ONLY ObamaCare. In these bad economic times of recession and massive unemployment there's Obama and progressives arguing for even more spending. Any progressive chatter of budgetary discipline is merely lip service as the evidence shows. The Pelosi Congress that was seated in 2007 began the downfall that followed in late 2008, for which Bush and Republican's were blamed entirely. Funny how the progressive Congress is never held responsible for any of this. How special of media to hook up their progressive pals!
Lastly, look around yourself and listen to what goes on in the news at the moment. Yes, as ugly as it is we must increase the debt ceiling to prevent default. That is one of the ugliest of truths. But if we do not drastically cut spending across the board, and I mean DRASTICALLY, our collapse will only be staved off for a short time by increasing the debt ceiling. It's one of those "damned if we do, damned if we don't" things and as much as I hate it, reality is often not neat and pretty.
Going forward we can mitigate the intentional damage Obama and progressive's seek by controlling the purse strings, and now that Republican's run the committees in the House, progressives have lost the ability to do too much more damage, not that they won't try their best to soldier on like good little automatons.
Love or hate Obama and progressive politics, we know who is responsible for what we see. We know their end game. We know their strategy. All we need to do to prevent their success is deny them the money they need to bankrupt us. Oh, and for the record, in EIGHT years of Bush the national debt grew $4 Trillion dollars according to CBS News. Yet in less than 2 years Obama has almost equaled all of the deficits of the 8 Bush years. Hmmmm?
This is fiscal sanity? New and different politics and politicos? In fairness, increasing in two years what it took Bush 8 years to do is in fact "new and different" but that does not make it good! If Obama and progressives are not stopped and the current course reversed, the ugly that is coming will dwarf most things anyone has seen in their lifetimes.
After all, according to Cloward & Piven, it is intentional to plead the plight of the less fortunate in order to overload the system to break it and then install the progressive vision,, which as we see is myopic and irresponsible at best....Marxist, ugly and intentionally destructive at worst. "14 Trillion Dollars!" Think about it!

Post a CommentYou have a minor point Julia. Wanna call Iraq a mistake? Fine. Afghanistan was our retaliation for 9/11. Almost every single Demo in Congress voted in favor, ya know. Now, do we continue to justify current insane spending for past mistakes? Doesn't that seem the quintessential kid's argument "Well Johnny did it!" Two wrongs do not make a right Madam. Or do you just feel we should keep spending until the bank runs dry and we collapse?
Well, Whippy, what about the billions the GOP wasted on futile wars in Iraw / Afghanistan. Your grandkids will be paying off that debt.
As Lorraine said, "What does Obama care?"
What does Obama care? He won't be repaying the debt. We will, our kids, grandkids and Americans yet unborn. Like Bush, we could BLAME IT ON OBAMA for the rest of the millenium.
I wonder what role the Federal Reserve, the IRS, and elimination of the gold standard plays in all of this? Fiat currency systems always fail.
Nice job Whippy. I agree with Michele .... sickening! Disgustingly so.
Whippy, I have the debt clock on my "favorites" - although it really isn't a favorite site. It sickens me to watch the debt tick away and with it, any hope that America can ever dig herself out of this mess. Thanks, cheers for your timely reporting as usual.
that kind of money is hard to imagine
AUTHOR'S NOTE: Forgot to include this link: http://www.brillig.com/debt_clock/ The debt was $11 Trillion on 17 March, 2009, and now in 21 months since then it has hit $14 Trillion. So, who is it again who is responsible for all this? Oh, that's right...Bush and them evil Republicans!
