May has been dedicated to just that. The entire month of May has been dedicated as National Foster Care month. During the month of May, all of those involved in enriching the lives of foster care children are acknowledged and recognized for all they do for these children. The recognition isn't limited to foster parents, but all involved in the program, including social workers, mentors, and volunteers.
National Foster Care month is an important time to say thank you to those that have helped the children in the foster care program. This recognition is for those that have helped place foster children in loving homes, help the abused and neglected children within the foster care program, and those that help children with the adoption process.
More about Foster Care Programs
Unfortunately, children often become the victims to the poor choices their parents and guardians make. This is where foster care programs come into play. The program simply offers assistance to someone, allowing them to develop and grow. Those that choose to become foster parents offer foster children a safe place to call home until they can be reunited with their parents and guardians, or be adopted to a loving family.
Because many of the children in foster care programs have been through a lot, many of them need help. Many of these children need to learn how to simply be children and enjoy a care free life. They need some one to love and nurture them and show them the way to grow into well rounded adults with bright futures ahead of them. The title of "foster parent" involves more than just making sure the children are bathed and their school work is done. A foster parent is a soft place for a child to land and know they are safe from harm.
This is the reason why there's a National Foster Care month. It's to say thank you to the thousands of dedicated workers and volunteers enriching the lives of these children going through a difficult time. Without these people involved in these children's lives, most of these children wouldn't have a second chance at a promising future.
