National Gallery of Canada
Neighborhood: Ottawa
Most Americans do not even know what the capital of Canada is. As you might expect most Americans also do not know what there is to do and see in Canada. Canada is a large country though and offers lots of things to do and see. One popular Canadian destination in Ottawa the nations capital is the National Gallery of Canada.

The National Gallery of Canada is located at 330 Sussex Drive, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. tickets for the National Gallery of Canada unlike the American National Gallery do cost. Ticket prices range from $9 for adults, $4 for 12-19, and under 12 is free. They also offer a deal for families for two adults and three kids for only $18. The National Gallery of Canada also offers free entrance on Wednesday after 5PM.

The National Gallery of Canada may not be one of the worlds most famous art museums but it is one of the best in Canada. It is not a bad art museum it has many works by many famous painters. However it is not a world class art museum like some of the museums in the US. If you are from America you will not want to take a special trip to see the museum but it is a good side trip while in the Ottawa area.

Some of the famous artists that are displayed include Van Gogh, Klimt, Rembrandt, even modern masters such as Warhol are featured. The museums specializes in Canadian artist and Native art which makes it one of the best museums for this kind of thing. The Native American art is one reason you may want to come from the US to see the National Gallery of Canada. The National Gallery of Canada interior reminds me of the Palace of Legion of Honor in San Fransisco.

Overall the National Gallery of Canada is a great art museum. Compared to many local art museums this is great. However considering that it is the finest in the country and represents its country it does not compare to world class museums like the Boston MFA, or New York Museum of Fine Art.
