National honor society awards deserving and eligible students the National honor scholarship money. There are certain criteria that the students have to fulfill in order to apply for this scholarship program. The students are not allowed to apply directly to the program and they are eligible only when they get nominated for the scholarship program. The National Honor Society chapter nominates the high school seniors for this program. The student can request their chapter advisor to start the process and usually two to five students are nominated. Only full time students can be nominated and home-schooled students are not eligible for this program.

Once the student is nominated, he or she has to fill out the nomination paper that is four pages long. There is a fee of $6 for this application process. The student has to submit essays, letters of recommendation along with the necessary signature of the student, principal and advisor on the form before the deadline set for the submission. The student can collect all information on the legitimate website of the National Honor Society website. Usually the deadline is fixed for the last week of January every year. However the exact date may vary from year to year.

National honor society scholarship award is based on academic performance and is merit based and not need based. The scholars who win the award money are usually all rounder and along with academic excellence they also exhibit qualities like strong service providing qualities for school and community and they are equally involved in extracurricular activities like athletics and arts. The selection process ends by April each year and the winners are notified by the month of May.

The students who are interested to apply and win the scholarship award should visit the official website of national Honor Society and collect information regarding the eligibility and application procedure. The National honor society scholarship program is one of the oldest scholarship programs and thus an honor for the student who wins the scholarship award money. The students who find themselves eligible should request their advisor before the process of nomination starts.
