National Parks: Yellowstone vs. Grand Canyon

Brooke
Summer 2009 is sneaking up behind us and we can either avoid the heat, or embrace and enjoy Mother Nature's great outdoors. For those of you who are planning on living it up all summer long in the outdoors may want to consider visiting a National Park. You may have already heard of parks such as the Yellowstone National Park and the Grand Canyon, but the question is, do you know enough to vacation there?

Yellowstone National Park for starters is a historic adventure through evidence of an eruption of the world's largest active volcano. Ash from a volcano thought to be 640,000 years old blankets the area within a 30 mile radius. Yellowstone National Park became the first National Park as people far before our time too were amazed by its spectacular features. Due to the fact that it is the first National Park, Yellowstone National Park has become very popular. Yellowstone National Park is conveniently located in three different states instead of your average, everyday one; Montana, Idaho, and Wyoming. There are a couple of sleeping options when it comes to Yellowstone National Park. If what you were really hoping for was a great outdoorsy experience then you may want to check out camping grounds in Yellowstone National Park such as Canyon and Bridge Bay. To make same day reservations call 307-344-7901 or for future reservations call 1-866-GEYSERLAND. Then there are those of you out there who like me appreciate the indoors especially after a gorgeous day in the great outdoors. Lodging like this is available in close proximity to the park itself. Canyon Lodge Cabins for instance lie inside Yellowstone National Park. While the Lake Hotel remains right outside the park. There are numerous things to see and do while in Yellowstone National Park. Old faithful the world's most popular geyser is a must see as well as the various wildlife. The Yellowstone National Park is home to grizzly bears, wolves, bison, elk, and more. All I can say is take plenty of pictures when at the Yellowstone National Park.

The Grand Canyon National Park has much to offer in the way of awe inspiring views. Its immensely vast size can be measured to nothing. With the Grand Canyon National Park comes many great outdoorsy activities like hiking up the trails and sailing down the rivers below. Its timelessness overwhelms us as its beauty captures our gaze. You don't have to be a fan of the great outdoors to enjoy the Grand Canyon National Park. Although it wasn't deemed the first National Park, has much to offer to keep tourists coming. For instance, the Skywalk is a must see when visiting the Grand Canyon National Park. The Skywalk is located on tribal lands and is managed by the Hualapai Tribe. The Skywalk consists of a U shaped walkway that reaches out around 70 feet past the rim. The Skywalk included in a variety of tour packages. To reserve a trip to the Skywalk, call 1-877-716-9378. Another great outdoorsy attraction to swing by is the many more attractions such as helicopter flights and horse/mule rides both between Hualapai Hilltop and Supai available near and around the Grand Canyon National Park only making it more worthy of visiting.

I grew up in South Carolina and moved down to Florida when I was 21, then at 31 I moved back. I love uncompetitive volleyball.. (you know like on the beach or in the pool or something).  View profile
