National Pet Week is coming up fast and will be celebrated during the week of May 2-8, 2010. If you have a pet that is part of your family, do something special for your pet during this week.

Pets are an integral part of the loves of hundreds of millions of families around the world. With dogs, cats, guinea pigs, fish, cows and any other animal you can mention at homes everywhere, it is hard to imagine life without a beloved pet.

There are a number of Web sites where you can get more information about National Pet Week. Consider visiting petweek.org for some basic information and cool news about National Pet Week.

Another cool internet site is crayola.com which has some nice and fun crafts ideas for kids revolving around pets. These activities combine Crayola crayons and pets to make a really fun project for both kids and parents.

Did you know that President Obama has a dog at the White House? Yes, the President's pet is a beautiful dog named Bo. You can find more information about the official White House pet at this Web site, whitehouse.gov.

One great thing about National Pet Week is you can dress up your beloved pet in a fun and cute costume outfit. Of course make sure your pet is always comfortable and can always see through the costume. Here are some ideas for costumes for the 2010 National Pet Week or for pet costumes you can use during the 2010 Halloween in October.

If your pet is a dog, you are in luck because there are hundreds of dog costumes out there for your feline. Check out the cool and fun dog costumes at costumecraze.com or the hilarious ones at buycostumes.com. These are great for last minute costumes for your little puppy.

As for cats and other pets, consider visiting the Web site of petsalley.com for some cool and creative ideas for fun and easy costumes and outfits for your cat or kitten. Often you can use something around the house and make a fun costume for your cat.

Maybe you have a pet bird and want to dress up yourself or your child in a costume that looks like a bird. Have no fear because amazon.com has a cool Toucan bird beak nose costume for your child. The online retailer costumecraze.com has a great toddler Big Bird costume vest. For adults, buy.com has a spectacular women's adult peacock bird Halloween costume.

So this year consider taking your bet for a checkup during National Pet Week. A simple pet teeth-cleaning or basic veterinary checkup could help extend the life of your pet for many more years. Enjoy your pet a little more during National Pet Week 2010.
