National Search to Identify Two Murder Victims

Law Enforcement from Connecticut and Massachusetts are looking for the public's help in trying to identify two women found murdered in 1995. The first female was found behind a shopping center near Route 9 in the city of New Britain, Connecticut on September 28, 1995. She was estimated to between 16 and 21 years of age, Hispanic and or white with brown hair and eyes. She was found wrapped in two sleeping bags and died from a gunshot wound to the head. It is believed that she was 5'3 and weighed 116 pounds. She had a vertical piercing above her naval. Items found on the victim were: white farmer type jeans, athletic socks colored white, LA Gear shoes size 6 1/2, 34B sized maroon bra, a Gitano watch, and a herringbone necklace. A ring with a pink stone was also found on the victims' right hand.

The second victim was an older Hispanic or multi-racial female between the ages of 30 and 45 years old. Her body was found near the Tolland State Forest in Massachusetts not far from the Connecticut border. She like the other victim had been shot in the head but unlike the Connecticut victim had been found up to a week after her likely homicide. She is believed to be anywhere in height from 5'2 to 5'4" and 120 to 140 lbs in weight.

She wore several items at the time of her death. She had a drawstring hooded sweatshirt that contained the word Trends in a diamond on the left chest. The sweatshirt also had a red and black Aztec print on the hood, sleeves and pouch pockets. She also wore a a maroon, long-sleeved, Sarah Morgan velor shirt and a 40B size bra. For pants she wore a Bill Blass pleated jeans size 8, and navy blue Passport shoes with gold studs (size 7 1/2). The victim has several silver rings as well as a plastic ring on her left index finger. She also had gold watch with a black face on her left wrist and wore glasses.

DNA testing on the two unidentfied women soon revealed that they are related as mother/daughter. Items found on the older victim were traced back to stores in the Albany, New York area. Police surmise that isotope testing on the older victim puts her in the Albany, New York area for at least the last six months of her life. The two cases have been publicized in that city but the identities of the women as well as their killer(s) remain a mystery. It is very likely that these two women may have lived in several different areas before they moved to the Albany, New York region.

In 2007, the skeletal remains of three women were found just a hundred yards from where the first victim was found in New Britain. These three women to this day are unidentified. Police have not ruled out any possible connection with these three victims as well. In January of 2011, one the skeletal remains was identified as Diane Cusack. Her brother had recognized a facial reconstruction done on her and now police are actively investigating who killer her and the others.
